For this installment we've invited London based artist Fairground of Tears to take you on a menacing journey through the darkest realms of industrial/ebm techno.

Fairground of Tears is an artistic concept run by Piotr Sledzinski. A concept that is categorised by the darker, industrial and more energetic tones of the techno genre.

Piotr has experimented with electronic music of all colours partly through his former alias and alternative electronica project Ne Plus Ultra along with an involvement in the Passive Front Records imprint. This wide ranging experience and hunt for expression ultimately leads itself to the Fairground of Tears concept and Exiled event series. The latter playing host to Melania, Operant, Violet Poison, Codex Empire, Inhalt Der Nacht to name a few and establishing itself as a premier and forward thinking events series. 

In that very same vein his own sets and productions are not bound by any specific style. Consequently an eclectic mixture of dense industrial textures and atmospheres as well as electronic body music can be expected in his mixes and productions.

The Warsaw-based DJ and producer deliver four energetic tracks in his brash and sophisticated signature style. The EP opens with the title track 'Rigorous', welcoming us with its brutally massaging kick drum complemented by a dystopian synth theme. Next on the list, 'Draco' is a soundtrack for reisefieber before journeying into the cosmic vacuum. 'Scrupulous' with its Detroit twang delivers a peak-time tool whether it's the beginning or end of the night. Stringent' continues its flight through analog arteries, flowing with high-octane synth sounds, leading to a finale that hides interpretations by Alarico and Cratan.

Unbemånnt is the project of a german producer and DJ, who has started experimenting with sound design and production 10 years ago. After trying out different styles and genres, he got really fascinated by Techno, it's political claim and the sheer endless room for creativity it's giving. For him especially the underground scene offers a kind of refuge from the ordinary life and daily work / sleep routines by giving people shelter from discrimination, social pressure and the narrow-mindedness which is omnipresent in the german society. To protest against all that, it's not a suprise that most of the time he uses dark, fast and hard hitting tracks as well as deep, hypnotic and meaningful sound in his sets.

Christoph Heinze, better known as Inhalt der Nacht joins us for our next exclusive Home of Sound
podcast.
Berlin-born, his sound has been shaped by influences from cold wave and new wave, blended seamlessly with elements of the rock music that he was exposed to in his younger days. Having already established his name as one of the most progressive DJ’s in his genre, Christoph has pioneered his own label: Lebendig from which he pushes fellow Dj’s and artists’ productions alongside his own. 2019 saw Christoph’s track “Dosis'' spread through the underground scene of Berlin like wildfire after it appeared on the compilation album “The World of Monom Black” put out by the illustrious Dax J and his eponymous label . Christoph’s eminence nowadays has granted him residency to some of the biggest clubs across Germany including Griessmühle Berlin, Khidi Tbilisi and Rote Sonne Munich

In this chat Christoph talks us through his experiences playing and producing techno and also his experimental explorations with theatre scoring in Cuba and eventually in Germany. We delve into Christoph’s past, recounting his first experiences with the underground scene as well the music that influenced him and provided the foundations to his raw and unbound resonate that we know today. We also look at labels and how artists are nurtured around them, and we get first hand insight into how he became resident of Rote Sonne, Griessemhule and Khidi and get a sense of the ever evolving drive of this artist toward fresh and non conventional sounds.
