Number 15 of our OYE Podcast Series is coming from Willem aka Rasval, who recorded a vinyl only mix under his new alias ‚Willem‘, which focuses more into House and Dub-House and will be a platform for his musical outcome in these genres. 
  
Grown up in a little town in the middle of Mecklenburg Pomerania, William has been socialized in his teen age by several surrounded electronic music events. After moving to Berlin for his audio engineering studies, he started his musical DJ and live-act project Rasval in the beginning of 2019 to focus on the deeper and classical side of Techno and House - mostly inspired by the sound of Detroit, UK and Dub. 

An international tour schedule has since followed, including stops and appearances at prestigious venues and events, including Tresor Berlin, Modular Cape Town, Video Club Bogota, Toytoy at And Club Johannesburg, Griessmuehle Berlin, Institut fuer Zukunft Leipzig as well as Good2U Festival, Feel Festival and many more. 

Nebelgelb’, the first EP of his collaborations with label partner Ones. which includes remixes by .VRIL & Sleeparchive, kickstarted their own Hardwax-distributed imprint TMN TRAX itself. During the studio work with him they most recently found the live-project Current Location with which they have their debut release on the Robert Johnson’s 25 years birthday compilation Lifesaver 5 in August 2024 among artists such as Gerd Janson, Mano Le Tough, Massimiliano Pagliara & Cinthie.

90s and 2000s Wax Only! DJ ______ is all about electronic music from the 90s and early 2000s that has stood the test of time. As co-founder of Studio illegale, a record store that has been firmly established in Bremen since 2019, he has persistently built up a record collection of almost forgotten and at the same time well-aged music, which DJ ______ would now love to share with you.

For his current mix for Turnland Records, DJ ______ has selected records that capture the autumnal mood. He has mixed techy and dubby material, as he sees autumn as a dub version of summer.

Body Identification is a Techno & Schranz DJ from Bielefeld, Germany.
He is a resident of @forum.klub Bielefeld, where he is known for his unmistakable passion for the oldschool sound of the early 2000s.
His mixes rely heavily on percussions and loopy techno to create a fast driven groove.

This time, he ventures into slightly newer tracks, creating a Schranz mix that is fast and driving, laced with captivating melodies and some mandatory oldschool references.

When I was entering the structures of Bremen's left-wing subculture, escaping from the dance floors of the rural big-room disco and toxic masculinity, resolving homophobic experiences simply by expressing the the of music differently, I was happy to find a community of solidarity that collectively longed and worked for a better now.
But aside from all the common ground, one thing that really confused me at the time was the unconditional solidarity with the Israeli state and the gatekeeping against critical voices and solidarity for the Palestinian people. Ironically, the local bouncer scene, whose job it is to make people feel safe, was heavily involved in actions against critical voices.

It was common for bouncers to be members of the Anti-Deutsche. For those who don't know, the German Anti-Deutsche are almost unconditional supporters of Israel as a bulwark against anti-Semitism and fascism. They often conflate anti-Zionism with antisemitism and are very critical of pro-Palestinian solidarity, even from the left.

In particular, the binary - one side or the other - shocked me, especially from members of a so-called leftist movement. I was too afraid to raise the issue for fear of being expelled or accused of anti-Semitism, despite the pacifist nature of my beliefs.
While trying to figure out how to address this issue, I came up with the idea of subverting it by making music and sharing my point of view with a poem by Suheir Hammad. I stumbled upon the poem - who knows how - in 2011 when I was in my room fiddling with Juno-6, which I had recently got my hands on.
At the same time there was a bit of a revival of sampling (or in some cases appropriating political voices) in the context of electronic dance music.
I downloaded Hammad's performance of "What I Will" at Def Poetry and played it back in a loop while exploring the timbre and harmonics of the synthesizer.
At first I thought about releasing it together, but somehow it didn't feel right or really necessary as I had made my peace with the subject and just kept quiet. Besides, I didn't even know if Hammad would want me to include her voice in my sonic explorations.
While this instrumental is now out there, either on vinyl or as a digital file, released without comment or even a title, it carries all of these issues within it.The process of reissuing the release reminded me of this, and now, 14 years later, it may be more important than ever to speak out.
As a child of a Lebanese father, I remember visiting my uncle and watching Arabic news channels with reports and footage of people dying needlessly, and the day I was sitting in my childhood bedroom chatting on ICQ with my cousin in Lebanon when Israel started dropping bombs in 2005 and the internet connection went down.
I can only imagine what it must be like to have relatives in the Gaza, the West Bank or Israel - no matter which side of the artificial borders they were born in.

With the release of the digital version of the EP, I will also be uploading a version of the initial version of B2 -Untitled, which includes the poem. The track had the working title "I Will Not Dance" at the time and is quite long by today's standards - for those who lack the patience, skip to minute three to tune in.

No hype, just timeless music!"
