Here's the MMA fight intro Rufescent & I recorded for our friend John Ortolani of the Triumph Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy based in Nashua, NH.  'Orto' will be fighting Jarod Lawton on Saturday February 8, 2014 at the The Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine as part of New England Fights 'Fight Night XII'.

The song is a tribute to Wu-Tang Clan's 'Triumph', the first single from the 'Wu-Tang Forever' album, released in 1997.

With their highly anticipated new album 'The Loops' coming very soon, the Massachusetts-based duo of DJ Manipulator and Louie Gonz delivers an appetizer in the form of “This Sound.” It’s a raw and addictive collaboration with West Coast heavy-hitter Blu, who’s further cementing his status as one of the best guest vocalists in the game.
 
Before the Los Angeles emcee takes the mic, however, we’re treated to the talents of Manipulator and Gonz. The two have recorded together in various fashions over the years, and released the album Private Stock in 2014. But consider 'The Loops' a reintroduction—and a damn fine one at that.
 
The entire album’s fueled by tracks like “This Sound,” which showcases Manipulator’s ridiculous sample flips and loops fronted by Gonz’s immaculate rhymes. And this is evident immediately, with the emcee opening the track with: “Ayo, my pockets gettin’ fat/ Yours? Lookin’ like a diet/ I stay on my hustle, man/ Don’t knock it ‘til you try it/ Brother stays covered with gold, I’m like a pirate/ You a giant? You could say I’m David to Goliath.” The quotables continue piling up from there, to the point you won’t think twice when you hear Gonz proclaim that he and Manipulator are taking over this rap thing.
 
You can hear “This Sound” now. 'The Loops' is due out June 9 and will be available on all major streaming services and digital retailers.

This song was originally a demo for Peter Project, who was working on a producer album featuring different MCs over beats he was making using strictly vintage hardware samplers from hip-hop's golden era, which he planned to record entirely to two-inch magnetic tape. A beautiful idea which turned out to be way too much work plus rappers are slow so he only got one song done as planned - "Peter North" which wound up on the Swamp Thing album Planet Murk - before he had to pack up the vintage gear to make room in his studio for a giant vibraphone so he could score Bomb Girls for CTV.

"I score bomb girls like Peter Project" sounds like a Wordburglar line! Except he's married, so uh never mind.

I recorded this demo not on two-inch tape, but in Cool Edit Pro 2.0 which is more obsolete than vintage, even at the time in 2012. The lyrics were slightly worse and so was the title, and it just sat and uh aged gracefully. Now it's the flagship of my new series of music that I! Cannot! Wait! To share with you!
