Conceived as an ecotonal space where the multiple sonic reinterpretations of the composition can converge, we are pleased to present the first compilation of EKŌ, a platform inspired by the essence of the spatial and acoustic propagation of rhythmic and experimental phenomena. Which seeks to share through this selection different ideas and creative sensibilities around experimental dancefloor. Where it is sought that, through the value of sharing in equitable and diverse ways, it is motivated to generate changing, thinking and sensitive spaces from, to and with what happens in the world and on the dance floor.

EKŌ baste together and puts in dialogue the personal universes of each creator in this compilation, also as a presentation of what EKŌ is and intends to generate, allowing us to access those meeting points that occur beyond the physical.

VERTICAL FLIGHT

Terminal welcomes syntrovert from Valparaíso, Chile, with the release of "Hope Recover," the first single from their forthcoming EP "Pathfinder". This marks syntrovert’s debut on our label, introducing us to their sonic universe where tribal house, club, and bass music collide.

"Hope Recover" captures the dynamic flow of creative ideas, serving as the perfect introduction to "Pathfinder". The 4-track EP delves into the various stages of the creative process: from the initial spark of inspiration and external influences, to the challenges and risks inherent in developing a work. All of this unfolds within an underwater fantasy, where effervescent ecosystems emerge on the edges of the unknown.

"Hope Recover" is steeped in hazy harmonies and ethereal atmospheres, drawing influence from colour bass and trance. With the piano as its melodic backbone, the track is enriched by a carefully curated collection of samples and materials, delivering an immersive sonic experience.

Complementing this release, paltamango, also from Valparaíso and syntrovert’s partner in the duo Pelícano Turbo, delivers an essential remix. Together, they co-run the Cartajena Ink label, through which they expand their shared sonic vision.

Malice Doll is a DJ + Producer from Detroit, currently based in Montreal, Canada. Her sound, formed by her formative years within Michigan’s hardcore punk scene, manifests as dark, abrasive, noisy and distorted hardcore electronic music ranging from breaks, gabber, deconstructed club, and genre-bending sounds on the forefront of the electronic landscape that escape definition. Having produced a number of successful tracks (including a remix of Yves Tumor’s “Limerence” that has taken the London club scene by storm), her catalogue and recognition are quickly spreading out of North America to the rest of the world.

For this mix, Malice Doll has chosen a bouquet of new-age hardcore club sounds. “The tracklist is basically anything that can scratch that [noisy, hardcore electronic] itch. It's my last attempt to squeeze catharsis out of the end of summer, so I tried to make it messy and unpredictable. The whole thing could be read as a bit of a downward spiral that you hopefully come back from.” Sit back and take in what can only be described as a masterclass in contemporary club terror.
