The fourth EP from Soma’s 20th Birthday series is a Techno through and through. Two of the most talented producers around at the moment meet on this release, with Gary beck turning in and soul- shaking remix of Tony Thomas’s Beginnings track and Mark Broom toughening up Itamar Sagi’s classic One Million Oaks track.
The on-form Gary Beck is currently one of the hottest tickets in Techno and House just now, working with labels like Soma, CLR, Drumcode, Electric Deluxe, Saved and of course, his own fledgling imprint, Bek Audio. Gary specifically requested to remix this Tony Thomas original saying it was one of the tracks that blew him away in his early days of Electronic music. Monstrous doesn’t even describe this.

Mark Broom and Soma have history. Producing with Percy X at the turn of the century, and also with Mihalis Safras more recently, plus a couple of great remixes along the way (including Percy X, The Separatists and Let’s Go Outside). Mark brings a thundering rework of the original combining massive kick and sub bass and stabs galore. Effective and most certainly driving, this remix sees Mark Broom at his best.

2011 will see Soma Recordings celebrate their 20th year of releasing stunning and eclectic music from across the electronic spectrum. The label will release a series of singles throughout the year (some vinyl and some digital) , containing remixes of Soma1s extensive catalogue , including remixes of their big tracks like Scott Grooves’ ‘Mothership Reconnection’ (famously remixed, previously, by Daft Punk), Funk D’Void’s ‘Diabla, Slam’s Stepback’ and H-Foundation’s ‘Tonight’ to name a few. These releases culminate in a CD box-set released in September, containing a collection of their favourite remixes, ‘Hidden Gems’ from Soma’s 20 back-catalogue and also several exclusive tracks and DJ mixes, including one by Label co-founders SLAM.

Juno Records: Fresh from ruling the Red Bull tent at this year's Sonar Festival, the ever excellent Cosmin TRG adds to his annus mirabulus. We've waxed lyrical about the Romanian's deviations towards a distinctly unique take on the techno thump for Rush Hour and Hessle this year, and both tracks here continue to demonstrate his growing talent for productions in this area. "Fizic" arrives in a swell of purple synth flourishes, finding a bumping low end groove that fights its way through a relentless shower of neon stabs and rough industrial textures. Complementing this is the more euphoria inducing "De Dans" which takes full effect when the skittering array of kicks and snares drop into place. The playful way that subaqueous synth lines are introduced adds to the energy filled sensation. In a word, big!

Since 1996, Drumcode has grown to become an institution in the global techno scene, encompassing a radio program, an event series, and a home for the musical vision of its artists and founder, Adam Beyer. “15 Years of Drumcode” celebrates this landmark by focusing on the present.

There are no throwbacks, rehashings, or remixes of the label‘s back catalogue. Instead, the 28-track compilation showcases the newest work of Drumcode‘s current roster alongside fresh material from some well known names from the labels history and special contributions from some of techno's undisputed heavyweights.
