This one started as a jam with a very static groove to begin with, Kick + Pulse Snare, and then the bass stabs to match. I had been spending my sort of newly isolated days new to Berlin, not knowing that many people just yet, and locking myself away in the studio. Watching plenty of John Carpenter movies (my favorite film maker) and digesting a whole load of 70's progressive rock & 80's film score soundtracks.
The whole thing came together pretty quickly, the arpeggio played out that way because I had been practising that scale and was finally able to make the run. 
I can't go into too much detail here without writing an essay in the universal powers but at some point and the same if for all of us who create in whatever ways we do, the artist becomes the instrument and at that perfect moment the universe and the artist are one.
This was the final production to leave the studio in 2012. Just before i turned off the computer for the last time and headed back to London from Berlin to meet my sister for Christmas on the 23rd of December. 
7 days later Jonny White Calls me on my birthday and asks to sign it to No.19.

Eric Volta - Love Your Illusion

This one started of as a jam session from a friend, but quickly all the parts has escalated and grew into it's own. It was yet another magic weekend in the studio as friend & music collaborator Gaika drops in with a few of his dutch friends. Chamireaux barely has the time to get acquainted and runs in & out of the studio after 10 minutes leaving this wonderful ad lib'd performance. Gretz then steps into the vocal booth and in just the same way leaves a great ad lib'd shortly after and makes a swift departure.
Gretz and I would meet again in the following weeks and work on more music together.


Eric Volta - Masters of Puppets

My opening set from TOYTOY at And Club in August 2021. 

This was a Morning Glory TOYTOY. The first 30 minutes of the mix was a grounding ceremony followed by an activation of energy flow through the body with movement, breath and sound. There was such a special group of people there that morning so I decided to include that part of the journey.

Co-founder of TOYTOY and half-owner of & Club, Fabio is the quintessential 80’s kid. A product of the music video generation he grew up taping 80’s pop shows to VHS so he could listen to them again and again. But it wasn’t until he began attending raves in the early 90’s that he was first exposed to dance music.

This new sound awoke something in him and he began to seek it out, eventually moving to Europe, working in record stores in London and Eindhoven in the Netherlands, and becoming obsessed with music from Detroit, particularly techno and electro. The characteristic driving rhythms and melodies of which can still be found in the music he plays today, almost 18 years later. Fabio’s style itself is characterised by smooth mixing that transitions easily and he tends to limit his use of effects and gadgetry, letting the music speak for itself. That said, his choice of music can be quite experimental in the right environment, exploring disco, 80’s, indie and electro sounds.

Whatever he chooses to play however, you can be sure that it’s been considered ahead of time, because by his own admission and in his own words: “It’s the music that keeps me coming back week after week, searching for that moment the music flows and that wonderful exchange with the audience begins to happen, it’s like nothing else.” When asked who inspires him, he lists the TOYTOY residents as major influences.

Fabio again: “Even though we all play different music, they play with such passion and conviction that it makes me want to put time and effort into my own sets”.
