D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music opens the spring season by welcoming Ruben Karapetyan back to the label for his debut single. Following a ten-year hiatus, the Armenian-born, USA-based artist made a triumphant return to electronic music in 2020 with a series of the releases via Mango Alley, Movement Recordings and Univak. On the strength of his fresh, progressive sound Ruben quickly earned praise from the genre's trendsetters Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while also becoming a regular in Beatport's competitive sales charts. Having made his first appearance on SLC-6 Music last year with a remix of K Loveski's 'Renzzo', the Los Angeles resident now returns to the label for his first single entitled 'Meteorite', alongside a remix from Jerome Isma-Ae. The Original Mix finds Ruben operating at the peak of his creative powers and aiming squarely for the dance floor. Elasticated synths, delicate chord stabs, percolating effects layers, charged beats and mountainous basslines form the solid structure of the track. An emotive break, complete with thought-provoking vocal samples, puts your senses on high for an exhilarating finale.

Making his label debut, and providing the lone interpretation, is progressive music icon Jerome Isma-Ae. Having remixed the likes of Faithless, Hybrid, Paul Van Dyk and Way Out West, the German artist now overhauls Ruben's 'Meteorite' in fine fashion. Beginning with a subdued pulse, Jerome masterfully builds the energy into an epic main-room stormer. Multi-dimensional stabs, flickering percussive arrangements and deconstructed vocals steal the air, while thunderous grooves and misty tension-filled atmospheres keep attention firmly locked on the dance floor.

Continuing a strong spring season, Madloch's Sound Avenue welcomes FJL back to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Rosario and armed with a fresh progressive sound, FJL first emerged in 2020 with a contribution to BC2's ‘Novus' collection. Enjoying a rapid ascent moving forward, the next two calendar years saw further successes for the Argentine, with Sound Avenue affiliates 3rd Avenue and Future Avenue playing host to his elusive sound across four Various Artists collections, while Antrim's Or Two Strangers and long-running Japanese powerhouse Mango Alley also became landing spots for the rising talent. Electronic music tastemakers Above & Beyond, Hernan Cattaneo, Mariano Mellino and more were quick to recognize FJL's production prowess and have been steadfast supporters along the way. Having made his Sound Avenue debut last year with a contribution to the label's popular ‘Correlation' series, FJL now makes a welcome return to the Belgian imprint for his first artist showcase entitled ‘Downlifter'.

Plaisirs Sonores Records announce the release of 'Gems, pt. 1', their first-ever VA featuring three talented artists from different parts of the world: Maezbi and Paul (AR), both from Argentina, and Savvas from Greece. Munich-based label Plattenbank proudly presents the new release by the Colombian progressive house guru Kamilo Sanclemente. This talented artist from Cali displays next-level talent and leads an intellectual take on the genre, pushing the boundaries and boldly going into uncharted territories. His 23-minute material includes two collaborations with his fellow countrymen Dabeat and Juan Pablo Torrez and one with his Brazilian colleague Andre Moret. Mantura with Juan Pablo Torrez is a work of art based on enchanting chords, seductive stabs, Latin melodic scales, intriguing otherwordly vocals, and progressive grooves. Vekants with Dabeat introduces another state of trance powered by futuristic sound effects, an arpeggio theme, and a fluid arrangement. Infinity with Andre Moret draws from a pallet of melancholia and joy fused in a colorful sonic landscape. The release is much more than a collection of powerful dancefloor tracks. Its also an inspiring home-listening oasis and an advanced work of art.

Premiere: Quivver X Olivier Giacomotto - Snailblazer [Selador]

Andrea Cassino, with such celebrated releases as “Divine”, “Losing Part of Me” and “Asante”, has been at the forefront of the progressive house scene for almost 15 years. Remixes for Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat, Rudy, Michael A and GMJ have also been notable highlights in the Italian-born producer’s star-studded portfolio, as he now returns to remix Savvas. Characterised by an effortless bouncing bass groove and immaculately syncopated percussion, the Andrea Cassino interpretation of “Wonder” retains some of the core melodic themes while turning it into a rolling, club-friendly gem. Sweeping string passages and the haunting vocal prevalent in the original make their presence heard, particularly at the atmospheric and evocative breakdown before the mesmerising groove takes hold once more.
