When it comes down to taking things to the upper reaches of soul-felt house music, Roy Davis Jr is right up there with his Chicagoan mentors DJ Pierre, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Marshall Jefferson, and Lil’ Louis – people that all of us working here in our Farringdon bolt hole hold the utmost respect for. These dudes sewed the seed for house music and for the parties that take place all over the world every day. Aside from that, Davis Jr has very much built his own thing with a career that was sprouted back in the 90s and continues to the present day with ever strong releases - his 2013 album, Destroy and Rebuild which served as a statement of a new chapter for his work, continuing on with the innovation that has kept him up there in our books, included.
