That particular room is where my life started to turn around. I was doing well at work and although I was still partying a lot, there progress happening in my life.

R&S Records return with a supreme slice of techno from renowned Belgium producer Fabrice Lig with a stunning remix from R&S new signing Space Dimension Controller. . On remix duty is R&S new signing Space Dimension Controller (AKA 20 year old Belfast based producer Jack Hamill). This young analogue freak is equally influenced equal parts by Model 500, Zapp, Aphex Twin and Drexciya (a perfect combination for an R&S artist). His take of Digital Forest takes it down a deeper, lush, funkier route that perfectly compliments the original.

@d-tiffany's remix is a heavily percussive affair, offering up a hyperactive soundscape that feels dense without sounding cluttered – the transformation takes it from low-BPM, slinking breaks to solid 4-to-the-floor dance banger. Beginning with trademark Roland drum work, the Vancouver producer lays down a quantised bedrock of jackin’ kicks, trilling hi-hats and tough snares. Atop this, a deep growling sub bass is ported from the original track, percolating amid the drum work to fill out the bottom end. Material from Caffeine’s original feels sparsely but effectively employed as a complex arpeggio pattern of glitching frog calls find itself situated within the mix as an elongated and melancholic cry, cutting through the arrangement.

The 'Birth of Ya EP' is out September 8th on @french-press-lounge.

A heartfelt dedication to his son Isaias, ‘Aspirations for Young Xol’ takes us through the life of a pillar in the electronic music community - Santiago Salazar. From his formative years spent in California to his connection with Detroit and the passing of a childhood friend, the long-player’s tracks signpost the musician’s significant experiences, both positive and negative. This meaningful body of work was released digitally on Pastel Voids and now Rekids release the album on wax.

‘Saturated Fear’ sets a deep tone for the LP, flanging melodies and echoing claps float through the composition before the album’s title track ‘Aspirations for Young Xol’ offers haunting arpeggios with occasional acidic overtones which are cleverly offset by beautifully designed lead synth transitions. ‘Bloodlines’ follows a similar musical vein with delayed bass riffs that are suspended above shimmering hihats and a weighted kick.

Santiago provides three beatless pieces throughout, which digress into more emotional territory whilst offering brief respite from his heavier drum work. ‘Xol’s Pain’ combines orchestral strings and swelling synthesisers which build tension with a subtly complex, evolving motif. Both ‘Dark Matter’ and ‘Ode to Stinson’ use arresting atmospheres, warped arpeggios and ethereal pads which lull the listener into a retrospective mood.

An intensity builds in the later tracks, a gritty but powerful low end provides a solid foundation in ‘Orange Blossom Thump”, eventually making way for a hectic and elastic lead synth before ‘Pachuco Dub’ displays drones that build a dissonant pressure in which the complex tom rhythms and rolling hi hats can grow. ‘Sarah Rivera’ hypnotises with its delectable chord progressions and complimentary melodies which seem to float above a rigid drum composition to close the album with style.

It was made using 6 drum samples and won a little competition in the infamous 'Strictly Lofi' group on facebook. I guess it wasn't lofi enough to be signed but happy that it found a great home now on this double cassette celebrating 6  1/2 years of @noorden

Next up on COS_MOS is a label debut from Tom Dicicco. The UK techno artist has amassed a fine discography on the likes of Delsin, Off Minor and Dred Records, always with a rugged and club focussed current running through what he does. 

The four cuts he offers here kick off with the hammering synth stabs and coarse claps of 'Varykino', a brutal twisted dance floor mover. 'Laser Life' then cuts loose, with squeaking machines and alien life-forms jumping about in a broken beat framework that brings off balance grooves to the party. Acidic bouncing bass lines jumping over the b-side on '99 Rising', where 'Quiet Theory' flips the script again, this time with percolating and trippy synth loops rising and falling with skeletal beats stuttering below. A well balanced party pack for every hour of the night.

DJ Foster has stepped up for the next in our 2013 Outlook festival mix series 

Dj since 1998, former turntablist, DJ Foster sits among the Italian dubstep pioneers, spreading awarness for this genre since 2006. Dubplates lover, DJ Foster hosts his own weekly radio show since 2009 on Sub.FM, one of the most influential Dubstep radio station world wide. As part of an International network of musicians and tastemakers, DJ Foster holds regular gigs in Italy and abroad. Shows in London, Bristol, Amsterdam, Berlin or Pula, where he was invited to join the highly celebrated Outlook Festival, are just outstanding examples of such an exposure. This brought him to share the stage with artists like Benga, Pinch, N-Type, Storm, Calyx, Noisia and many more. Moreover, he was chosen for collaborations by iconic global fashion and lifestyle brands like New Era, Ecko or Dojo Clothing to name a few. DJ Foster is half of the Dubspencersound Crew along with MC Ganji-Killah, a well known artist from the Italian underground hip hop scene.

Fabrice Lig is considered by his peers & techno fans around the globe as a world class producer.

He is well known for his particularly funky use of Roland’s sh101 analog synth, and for his particularly emotional and personal melodies and harmonies.

There is no doubt that after more than 20 years of teaching himself production processes, complex midi programming and harmonies, Fabrice’s sound is unique and recognisable among the thousands of weekly techno releases.

Demonstrations of these skills appear on the crème de la crème of electronic music labels such as KMS (Kevin Saunderson), Planet-e (Carl Craig), Submerge, R&S, Third Ear, 7th City Records (Dan Bell), F-Communications (Laurent Garnier) , Versatile, Classic, Compost, Subject Detroit, Motech, Raygun, Playhouse Records, Kanzleramt (Heiko Laux), 70 Drums (Ken Ishii), Clone, Trapez ltd and so on...An exceptional discography into mythic labels, into history of electronic music.
By the end of 1998, after his first DJ and production experiences, under the Interwaves and Bug Orchestra nicknames, Fabrice was elevated to the ranks of the Detroit musical elite by Mad Mike himself, thanks to his classic remix of E-Dancer’s Banjo track on KMS: “Fabrice is a part of Detroit music's history by being the first white producer to record on KMS, and the first double groove recording from NSC”.
Fabrice has built a solid discography and reputation, confirmed by his reknowned appearances at the world’s best clubs & festival line ups such as Panorama Bar-Berlin, Fabric - London, Womb-Tokyo, Detroit Fuse-In Festival, Fuse - Brussels, Loft - Barcelona, Sub Club - Glasgow, The End - London, Sonar Festival, world famous official Montreux Jazz Festival, Bourges festival (On stage with Jean-Michel Jarre ), to name but a few. One of the highlight of Fabrice dj career is the paper into Detroit Free press where his performance was voted best dj Set of 2005’s Detroit Fuse-in Festival.
Fabrice also collaborated and remixed some artists like Laurent Garnier, Kevin Saunderson, Agoria, DJ Hell, Ken Ishii, Kenny Hawkes, Rob Mello, Frederic Galliano, Chymera, Trüby Trio…
After his last Soul Designer's album on Third Ear (2007), Fabrice decided to take a bit of a break from music and concentrate on some educational projects. Nevertheless, he released his classic Purple Raw EP on Versatile in that period, as well as some own EPs on R&S, Subject Detroit, .. next to a few remixes. Over the last few months however, Fabrice quietly prepared the celebration of 20 years of music by producing a new album with the idea to make a strong “come back” with fresh material for late 2014.
And when Carl Craig first heard "Galactic Soul Odysseys", he instantly decided to invite Fabrice to join Planet E's prestigious family. Once again, Fabrice work is entering history of music through one of the most respected labels from the techno community.
Fabrice is really excited to be back on tour for live performances around the globe and to present that new material to his fans...

As Jean-Michel Jarre said in an interview for MTV : "What is touching me in Fabrice Lig's career is the way he is following his own line, without caring about trends, and that's the path an artist should follow. It is not post Detroit, it's an emotion"
