Today we are proud to introduce " @eira_haul ". This Berlin based artist won us over with one of his latest EP's "Lonely Water" released last August on "@lemon-test ".  
Eira Haul has lived in a lot of different countries over his life and he told us that his diverse music taste and productions are a reflection of this. He also admits that regardless of where he lives his taste are continuously shifting and circling “With the lack of clubbing recently a lot of my attention has been focused on music outside of the 4-to-the-floor structure and I've also been excited to engage with genres that got me into electronic music originally such as jungle and breaks” he said.

Mind benders, acid trips, tribal grooves and anything in between… Tracks that had been sleeping until now waiting for their moment. They couldn’t just sit there unshared and unused forever.

With this release I would like to take the chance to send positive vibes to all the people working hard to help everyone in need in times like these. Also sending good health to everyone affected by this pandemic. We will get over it, all together!

On the 30th of April, VOLTAGE Imprint will release the Transistor compilation featuring a long list of artists that contribute to our local Belgian scene - north, south, and central. Hosting a variety of styles, from hypnotic to industrial, and familiar names; a collection of people who have distinguished themselves in contemporary dance music not just in our country, but around the world. 75% of the proceeds of this compilation will go to these artists in an effort to support them doing what they do best: delivering us joy and a soundtrack to our night. This compilation isn’t just a cry for help, but equally an affirmation that our scene is worth fighting for.

The contributions involved will come from a combination of each of our very own artists from the Voltage Agency & Imprint and others - proudly including the likes of Kr!z, Marco Bailey, One Track Brain, Farrago, Jacidorex, Radical G and TWAN to name only a few. We are proud to showcase their work as it represents the current sound of our scene and the music we are eagerly waiting to dance to once again in our favorite clubs and events after this isolated period of confinement.
The Transistor Compilation, a name meant to honor an effort to rectify the damages being done to our artists, will be available on all digital platforms including Bandcamp. We ask you to consider buying it, as COVID-19 has rendered it impossible for these artists to play their booked gigs and therefore benefit from their main source of income.

This isn’t the first time our community has been threatened and it certainly won’t be the last. Music and art become more important as times become increasingly trying. Dancing has never felt so appropriate.

Maxwell Church’s “Wipers On” is treading the line between dance floor effect and emotive expressive sounds. In his own words: “The rhythm propels the machine while the textures and tones build the vast expanse in which the machine explores new territory”. Moy Santana’s superb electro remix gives the EP an extra punch. A record suited well for both driving in the night rain or dancing until the sunrise.

Electric Indigo is a longstanding DJ, producer, composer and musician who started her path into the electronic scene in the early 90s and has since played in over 40 countries around the world. Aside from a long string of releases and gigs under her belt, Electric Indigo is also the founder of female:pressure, an international support network and online database for female, non-binary and non conforming gender artists. Her music and contribution has earned her wide and deep respect from the international music scene that has taken her to play in a long list of well established clubs as well as winning awards such as the “outstanding artist award Musik 2012” and the Kunstpreis Musik 2020 from The Republic of Austria.

In this chat, we discover the artists early entry point into the techno scene, as she fortuitously interviewed Underground Resistance members, her work at iconic vinyl store Hardwax in Berlin in the early 90s and her experience running a label and playing throughout three decades. We also find out more about female:pressure and their research project “FACTS survey” which quantifies gender composition of music festivals and events line-ups since 2012. We discuss about the many challenges that non-male, non-white artists may face when working in the music industry, and we leave inspired by Electric Indigo’s take on tackling these challenges with open communication and joint committment with artists, promoters and music lovers.

HoS 038: Electric Indigo

Fabrizio Lapiana is a well-known fixture on the contemporary Italian techno scene. His musical career started in his hometown Rome where he began collecting vinyl and DJ'ing in the early 90's.
 
After being mainly active on the local scene, Fabrizio in 2008 started producing and founded his own imprint, the well renowned Attic Music. The label quickly expanded from hosting just Fabrizio’s work into releasing other artists fitting his personal definition of techno. To date Fabrizio has over two handfuls of releases, Attic Music serves as home to some of these, but also other respected labels such as ARTS, Figure Jams and beloved M-Rec Ltd to mention a few. His productions are often deep and hypnotic, yet at times they have brighter melodious elements, with each of these components smoothly entering as the tracks unfold.
 
However playing records to a live audience is still his favourite element. Fabrizio has honed and perfected his deejaying skills for three decades now, therefore being famous for his immaculate mixing technique. To create the setting he prefers, his sets travel from deeper to harder techno, mental pieces are introduced to more groovy ones and hypnotic or Detroit gems get updated with new unheard material – these are some of the key ingredients for Fabrizio while creating an intimate journey for the listener. Many the renowned clubs where He performed worldwide: Berghain, Tresor, Bassiani, Khidi, Concrete and Basement just to mention few.
