Sterlan Starr - Halcyon (Mr Silky's LoFi Beats)

Wordplay/Cypher with a bunch of fun tidbits. Wrote this 2 weeks ago around the time I wrote “Durian Fruit”. Was going to use another beat but used that for “Butterfly Knife” instead. Long form vocal melody that spans the entire song with different cantor sections to hopefully add delineations to make up for having no hook or chorus.

It’s easier to ride the wave with more color and finesse when I’m not brought back to a hook. I think both types of songs will have a place in my repertoire, but these are the most fun to write and perform for me because I just get to flow both writing and recording it with freedom to go where it takes me. Also they are more light hearted in general which is always comfy.

Rough mix no EQ or mastering, I’m having a Day today 🫠🤒, but this aligned with a beat in my head and had to record it while I had it at the tip of my tongue. First rough draft.
