Chopstick & Johnjon - Roots (Sasse Remix)

After opening up the account on their new label earlier this year, Krankbrother return to the imprint with two new tracks, which show off the differing shades of their musical dexterity.

Up on our Debut Transmission is A-side ‘When You’re Watching Me’, a fully formed Summer belter, which ticks all the boxes required for a modern day, sunrise dance classic. A thunderous sub-bass line booms over delicate drums, the percussion lightly soaked in reverb as the filters open and close on the soft & melodic arpeggiated riffs.

All the hallmarks of a classic piece of euphoric electronica are here, best exemplified by the syrupy female vox and Balearic tones, and a hefty breakdown that really ramps up the drama. Shades of the 90’s big guns like Underworld and Fluke are here, but perhaps more in the grandiose style in which ‘When You’re Watching Me’ has been delivered, either way, it’s most certainly one of Krankbrother’s best to date.

Frozen, isolated from the outer world. The only source of food from the old world was an old rusty transporter owned by a vietnamese guy from a restaurant called "The Golden Turtle", parked in a frosty backyard.
From time to time some Silverheight Gray Seals came by on which Ole and Martin could warm themselves up a little bit. But the times were hard.
In a special moment after inhaling some expanding foam came the idea to just follow the Gray Seals through the door which was open the whole goddamn time.
3 years were gone, the freedom so near, but their brains were frozen.
But all in all this had one good thing...
In the shimmering light of their playstation 1, while playing some tekken, sitting at their tiletable, between tubing tobacco and coffee whitener, they had this awesome idea for an homage for that long time and that special street they were living on for 
so long, the Reilstreet!

Experimenting with styles & being a lover of EDM since 1970. I decided to add a new sound to the already eclectic Quint S Ence style. A blend of Ethnic, Techno, Tribal & Deep Electro it's all here, what I call Techno with a Twist & has been described by my friends as Light Techno and Progressive Trancey even Old Skool Techno . Aggressive but chilled, with plenty of energy, a four to the floor kik & bubbly bass line brings back the retro Techno style of the 80's, with a well defined up to date arrangement embellished with beautifully crafted synths that flow in & out of the arrangement.

Belle Greve 2am is the third in a series of tracks inspired by my home island of Guernsey. The music is influenced by late night walks, the sea and early morning views of misty bays with hazy sunrises.

Synthesised drones imitate late night vehicles sweeping round the bay. Ambient washes, strings and electric piano are set over a watery location recording made at 2am on Belle Greve's Longstore slipway just before a thunderstorm hit the island.

Companion tracks to this work so far are the completely electronic Bordeaux 7am which was released summer 2018 and St Peter Port 1am. Like the new Belle Greve track, the St Peter Port inspired piece makes use of a location recording, but is scored for 9 string players and piano. It has already been performed live at St James concert hall in Guernsey, a recording of that piece will be coming later in 2019.

For the first single from a 6-track EP from Montreal's Clarian (who is also one half of Footprintz), the Canadian reached well beyond the border to collaborate with Tel Aviv-born, Madrid-based producer Guy Gerber on "Claire." Gerber has been a major player on Israel's electronic scene since 2006, running his own Supplemental Facts label and infusing traces of minimal techno, tech house, downtempo and deep house in his productions, while remaining singular in his approach. Clarian's vocal contributions were at the heart of Gerber's progressive house-leaning Fabric mix from last year, which joined the likes of Ricardo Villalobos and Omar-S of artists that turned in single-artist mixes to the series. "Claire" starts amid a queasy vocal snippet (with Clarian's French whisper lodged in at the midpoint) and threatens to go darker and deeper. But a steady handclap and glimmering melodic line uplifts and casts light across this seven-minute track.
