DJ and producer, Terry Farley heads back to the 'second summer of love' and celebrates some of the biggest Acid House tracks, 25 years on.

Along with Andrew Weatherall, the duo started the now notorious Boy's Own fanzine in 1986, which commented on the slang, the parties, the tunes and the humour of the acid house days, and which also lead to the creation of the label Junior Boys Own. This imprint specialised in dance music and put out records by Orbital and Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers, which celebrates 15 years this year.

Terry began making productions with Andy Weatherall, Hugo Nicholson and Pete Heller under the name Bocca Juniors. He later teamed up with Pete Heller and has gone on to re-mix many of the world's leading artists and singers: everyone from U2 to New Order; to the Happy Mondays and Primal Scream at the height of Balearica. He has also produced Kylie Minogue, The Farm and M People.

Dave Jones live From Clockstock 01/07/2023

This mix was originally recorded a few years back for a radio show that was hosted by Shine, the guys behind residency I hold at the legendary Leeds Warehouse. It's features many of the tracks that I used to hear played at The Hacienda when I was going in the late 80's, early 90's and ultimately got me into DJ'ing. These are some of my personal all time favourite records that when I hear them rekindle some great memories from that era. I hope you like playing this as much as I did mixing these wicked tracks together...enjoy! x

Thanks Fac It’s Friday : In the third of the weekly series, here with a mix dusted off and delivered from the Summer of 1991, rumoured to be a recording of a set by Dave Haslam,  who played at The Hacienda over 450 times and played the final night of the original Fac 51 on June 28th 1997. Here with a heady set of tough club garage, Italian pianos and choice hip hop slices. Dave brings his “Sweet Sensation” concept to the next Manchester Hacienda gig, the August Bank Special at Sankeys, Friday 27th August with Todd Terry, Graeme Park, DJ Woody and Rowetta (Live PA). february 1991, shellies  .... update 5/11/09 ... I'm amazed at the number of people who have downloaded this mix. It has survived an epic journey from a C90 cassette to media file. Shame I haven't still got the other side. It just goes to show how much range in a set there was in those days. Even if there a few slips mix wise (not as easy to dj then as it is now). Considering the time it was done and the song selection it still sounds fresh today .....

I was asked to put together some of my favourite old house tunes so I did! I am aware there are probably loads that everyone thinks should be there but these are my choices, what I was playing back then (late '80s). I will admit, the mixing in parts is, shall we say, functional but it does the job, just about!! I think I've got into my comfort zone these days with the music around now. Just treat it as a party mix and have a dance and a reminisce, if you can remember that far back!
