POUTCAST #48: Jayar

After a couple of solo EPs to start the label, FAC 3 is comprised of four different artists, each with their own unique sound. Although a mix of up-and-coming and established producers, old and new music, there’s a common thread running through the EP.

First up, Justin Zerbst’s Waverider is an atmospheric nod to Detroit. Unearthed from a 90’s DAT, it’s built around some heavily modulated chords and 808 percussion which carry the track through to its string-laden climax.

Italian mainstay Luca Piermattei’s Venice is distinct end-of-night fare. Haunting pads sit atop a deftly-programmed bass which provides most of the movement over a tight drum groove.

While the A side has a undoubted warmth to it, the B dials things back and ups the intensity with two techier cuts. UK producer Skelter’s first release is a spacious acid groove, with the bassline taking centre stage amidst a nervy backdrop of percussive textures and reverb hits.

Finally, Melbourne’s LOIF rounds things off with the simmering Digiburra; a dense, electro-tinged breakbeat aimed squarely at the dancefloor.

V/A - EXPLORATIONS 1 - FAC 3

Kharkiv born artists Komponente & Kurilo have been an integral part of the local scene in the past years both as DJs, Live-Act and Producers.
Now further apart since the beginning of the war they are still united in music and we are happy to finally share this EP with which was originally conceived when both artists were still Kharkiv based during the pandemic.

Kurilo has since made the journey to the New York via Berlin in recent months. While Komponente took refuge in Kyiv for some time after having sat out most of the fighting in and around Kharkiv while lending a helping hand to families and elders who couldn't manage or didn't have the means to leave the city when russia attacked.

At this point we are just happy and thankful to have both of them still with us and to be able to finally get this EP out which by now seems to have travelled from a past life to us in the here and now.

Pandemics or War this is Electronic Music charged with pure emotions produced during one crisis, released during the next and we will still dance to it during whatever comes next!

Originally from Malaga but a Berlin resident for the past 13 years, Carlo is thrilled to unveil his first album released under his own record label, Bisiesto. This label stands out for its unique approach, releasing just one album every four years on leap day, February 29th. In contrast to his previous style, this album blends all his musical influences into a unique mixtape of instrumentals.

Reminiscent of Nightmares on Wax, Kid Loco, and Mushroom Jazz, this album offers a unique auditory experience. Lora Ute brings a hint of tangy mellowness to ‘Because’ balancing dreaminess with playful notes, while Jose Fernancaster, with his immaculate guitar skills, infuses ‘Todo Mal’ with sexy guitar riffs and wahs.  Intr0beatz's hip-hop touch enhances ‘Lemon Haze’, while Black Loops, a percussionist at heart, collaborates on ‘Midnight Cruiser’ to encapsulate the solitude of night-time city cruising with a lo-fi sound. Piek rounds off ‘Esperanza’ with an empowering bassline, tying the track together with a golden ribbon.

Carlo - Todo Bien - LP (BIST2024)

We come back with a third wonderful instalment titled Vegapunk EP, written and produced by the label's owner Thomas Moulin a.k.a Moulin - @moulindjofficiel. 

His first productions explore sounds from the 90's - 2000's with contemporary flavours, including Japanese vocals, vocoder, spooky and deviant beats as well as nostalgic and Game Boy like sounds. 

Vinyl is due at the end of May and beginning of June and will be distributed by Yoyaku.

Arkady Antsyrev produces minimalistic house tunes, combining deep-atmospheric soundscapes that slot perfectly into the sound world of Sublease Music. 

With this release Arkady shares three new tracks that firmly cements his reputation. 

Loud ‘n Proud is  a groovy acid tinged banger with crisp drums and bubbling 303s, underpinning a whispered, atmospheric vocal. 

Troika goes a bit harder, veering towards techno with metallic edges and a relentless groove, balanced nicely with another subtle vocal. 

JT changes things up with a skippy broken beat to start off, before settling into a bass heavy wobbler that will surprise and excite a lot of audiences.
