Created with with Canadian poet Gary Barwin, this collaboration is part of an international compilation of recordings titled (drowned out by traffic noise): a, A Novel. It is a response to Canadian Poet Derek Beaulieu's erasure text "a, A Novel". The track began as a .gif animation of the first 10 pages of Beaulieu's book. The raw code language of the .gif was then loaded into sound processing software which "read" the code of the .gif file and generated a sound translation of the .gif animation. This file was then re-mixed/processed by Gary Barwin and myself..

I'm a Canadian multi-media artist and am keen on musical and sound experimentation. I'm interested in art that cuts across borders and boundaries between visual, sound and literary/text practices. While the majority of my career has been based in visual practice my interests have widened greatly in the last decade to include musical and sound excursions. This page is an effort to share the results of these efforts more widely.
