Tekkerz Beatz - Blackout / Mezza - Nightmare (10" vinyl dub)

The Vinyl Vigilance label head Kemist shares with us two of his productions. Both tracks are exploring the darkest corners of the dubstep genre. Terrifier merges the hardcore sound with dubstep. The Funhouse is an interesting experiment to create the atmosphere of horror movies with the classic elements of dubstep.

Tune number 2 for #tuneaweek2024 ...again something I prepared earlier, a tune I nearly-almost-but-not-quite-finished a couple of years ago (yeah, I have a few of those). Finally finished it up, lots of of production involved. It's pretty busy, it's Jungle. Enjoy.

Don't Deal Violence

Tune number 3 for the weekly series in 2024.

I had been messing around with the funky drummer break for some time. On the 2nd of this year I finished up this tune. Today I did a bit of tweaking and this is the finished tune. It's a bass heavy breakbeat workout... not too different from the other 2 tunes I dropped so far this year. Enjoy :)

140 Madison

Week 4, tune 4. Another energetic breakbeat and bass tune, yeap... A bit of an oddball, a bouncy UK Garage style rhythm but at 160bpm. No idea why, seemed like a good idea at the time. Felt cute, might regret later, lol. I made this in a couple hours on Wellington Anniversary day, my home city. Happy birthday, Whanganui A Tara.

The title could mean a lot of things, it defo is a reference to the use of breakbeats, and the break away from usual genre pigeonholes. The album art might give you an idea what's been on my mind (and heart) lately.

Planning on doing something with an actual melody/harmony eventually, but not yet. Enjoy the bounce.

Weekly tune for 2024 is up. This one is worked into a full track from one of many unfinished loops I have sitting around. Usual creative process I hear from other artists I talk to as well: you have an idea, then you run out of juice, it doesn't get finished. I like to finish things, and it's nice coming back to a loop your past self made and hear it with fresh ears. Well, not always! But in this case it's nice.

That space between UK Garage and Dubstep is super blurry since of course that's the scene where Dubstep from in the early 2000s. I've been hearing a lot of breakbeat-heavy stuff in this vein for a few years. 

Yep, more breakbeats. I love breakbeats. It's a theme. They make you want to bounce and bop and pop.

After a long very long time these two tunes are finally being seeing a limited dubplate run. Classed as some of Coki's best work make sure to pick these up and enjoy.
