Long time no hear old friend. ASZENT are back with their signature sound: Trancy and with the punch of a martial arts duo. AKUMA enters the ring with a 90s approach and is aimed for trouble like a packed 90ies arcade with its blatant arpeggio sound on an Aszent-typical bassline. Round two, fight! Sore but still strong: SORE draws its energy from the very bottom and takes its time for the dynamics in the build-up. A gloomy surface sound in the low end, floating hi-hats and lots of tension make the track atmospheric. Whoever made it to round three gets a final beating. Fists are flying in SYNDROME, which sets up the KO with hissing sounds and hard kicks. We have a winner: the fight of the night goes to ASZENT.

This final episode of The Lab closes the Trinity with an open journey through the space-time continuum. 

INFINITE COORDINATES is exploring the vastness. The track drifts like rocket fuel and loses its motif occasionally into the infinite depths of its surrounding cosmos – only to recapture it again with full force. Sirens howl through the aether to remind us of our mundane existence, white noise hisses over the synth that seeks its resonating body in a space that contracts like a black hole. Somewhere someone is calling something from another time dimension. Houston, we have a problem – we are lost in an unknown gravitational field. 

COSMIC CENSORSHIP uses space in a different way. The bassline dominates and occasionally retreats into hidden spheres.  The track evades a classical structure of build-up and breakdown and changes through different states without a clear directive of sight. The mood is threatening and snappy. There is no turning back anymore – only a paradox path without distinct direction.

Life is a gap that you have to fill. This is the story of "Between The Li_es", which you can change with a single variable. No matter if your story is about lies, lifes, (social media) likes or the limes that the saying on your doormat would like you to make lemonade from: the truth is a distorted construct of perception. 

The same goes for everything you hear on this EP: distortion as a placeholder for stories, driving grooves as a mantra for your meditative experiments in your social distancing zone, sounds from everyday life in a foreign context for personal interpretation — you occupy the blanks, but the truth evades between the li_es.

BEGIERDE embodies the latest release from Aszent, paying tribute to the golden era of rave culture. In the 90s, when trance was at its peak, the focus was on melodic chords and extensive soundscapes.

TRIUMPH is a classic rave heavyweight that builds up gradually, combining straight drum patterns with the evocative sound of the good old days of trance. The whole thing comes to its peak hammering, followed by a drop that releases your entire stock of endorphins.

BEGIERDE continues the journey with uncompromising drums and percussion. This heavy hitter makes one thing perfectly clear: this is all about the absolute ecstasy of body and soul.

The TRANSITION series shows the trinity of the Factory Prime sound, represented by Aszent, Kaminski and David Sharife. Each with a style of their own, there is a thing they share in common: a passion for the energy of sound.


Kaminski's interpretation, AM PM, is old school to the bone. Raw, percussive elements rattle around the clock over minimalist chord stabs and a vocal sample reminiscent of Green Velvet times. 7 minutes of a rush hour ride into the past of the rave age for your ears. “Can you relate?” 

For those of you who don't remember the adventures in the techno dungeons when they were still open, David Sharife demonstrates how dark basements sound like with TRISKELE. A metallic taste remains after the track with its concrete-hard bass and a steel-moulded, hammering main motif, ends after about 6 minutes in a cold, windy feedback loop from the tape machine. 

After this short break Aszent continues mercilessly with DIRECT DRIVE. On a solid, low-frequency-dominant framework, howling screeches and distorted, jumping percussive elements build up progressively. Mind the drop and don't bump your head.
