Sometimes, having too many musicians in the studio can pull you in countless directions. However, the session that produced “Underwater” was the exact opposite scenario. UK chanteuse Kidä, Indian producer Oceantied, Swiss producer Shake It Maschine and studio team member Branko came together to create a song that is as cohesive as it is genre-bending. With an arresting and visceral lament on love lost, Kidä’s voice cuts through emotive layers of swirling atmospherics and sub-fracturing low end. If R&B has a future, this is it.

Dead Horse Beats is the stage name of Canadian musician, composer and singer Patrick Wade.
