Formerly known as Milkplant, JX-216 is a new alias developed by San Francisco Techno DJ/Producer, Justin William Pennell over the last several years. Schooled in the Midwest and solidified on the West Coast, his work encompasses well over 30 years of combined DJ/production experience, and 13 years running his label, From 0-1.

In 2008 he began the internationally recognized label, From 0-1 with fellow artist Sone, now nearly 40 releases in. Three years into his new alias, he’s had EP's and tracks signed to Sleaze Records, BEK Audio, Children of Tomorrow, Devotion, Suara, Impact Mechanics, TMM, SUB_tl, Ascetic Ltd., Alleanza, etc.

 His productions have appeared up in mixes and charts by Dave Clarke, Ben Sims, Cari Lekebusch, Norman Nodge, Richie Hawtin, Randomer, Joachim Spieth, Tommy Four Seven, Krenzlin, Submerge, Tadeo, Mattias Fridell, Joton, Electric Indigo, David Meiser, Samuli Kemppi, Arnaud Le Texier, Patrick Skoog, Abstract Division, and many others.

He has played in various cities across the US, most notably in Detroit for Interface/Scene at Movement Festival 2016, and 2018. His mixes have been featured on Tbilisi based Dark Underground, Sleaze podcast, Drone podcast, and Error Sessions. In early 2018 he launched 'Konstruct', a monthly Techno event at Underground SF in San Francisco with fellow artist, Rubidium, showcasing talent from across North America and beyond.

It's Never Too Late is the debut EP from Parisian techno artist M.O.L.N, featuring four tracks which demonstrate a wide dynamic range of production techniques.
 
The opening track Buchla gets straight to the point, blending elements of experimental, west-coast synthesis with pure peak-hour energy. It begins with an ominous, sidechain-ducked drone from the Buchla 208 complex oscillator before dropping into a heavy, 142 BPM kick/hat pattern. The 208 adds a sharp, percussive line shortly afterwards which persists through the length of the track in varying envelopes and modulation levels. “Where’s the water?”
 
Run Away They Are Already There starts with detuned elements on the 208, then the track quickly comes to a hard stop. Broken-beat kicks break the silence, then brighter timbres take over on the drop. M.O.L.N knows the rules and chooses to break them. Into The Psy Trap and 4 Bells are fit for the closing hours, showing M.O.L.N’s ability to create harmonious and ethereal atmospheres equally well. Pleasant melodic lines, lush reverbs, and slowly evolving pads are the defining features of these tracks.
 
M.O.L.N cites influence from early Detroit techno artists such as Jeff Mills, and he produces with a mixed hardware/software workflow. It's Never Too Late is his statement to “just hit record” and release some tracks: Darkroom Bureau found him with a Soundcloud search for “buchla,” so the strategy seems to have worked."

Marcal is back for round two on Dustin Zahn’s Enemy Records with “Cyber Dystopia.” Marcal’s trademark grooves and clever vocal processing make this one of his most exciting and hypnotic records yet. It’s pure class…there isn’t much else to say!

BUT we have to try anyway…
“Cyber Dystopia” starts off with Bionic Jungle, a trippy peak time roller sprinkled with uh, lifeforms or something? We haven’t been able to identify them, which is just proof that Marcal is living on another planet we haven’t been to yet. We’re standing by for the invite.

Moravex’s Paradox picks up where Bionic Jungle left off…chugging along in his signature style. It’s loopy. It’s tooly…but still heavy on the grooves, making it a perfect fit in deep and peak time sets alike.

Nothing About the United States hits a little harder and darker. Dissonant drones and catchy sound design take over, flipping the switch from “party” to “punish.” For fans of his recent track on Enemy, “Never Wrote This.”

Don’t Fear the Three is a classic Marcal percussive workout in heads-down mode. It’s as equally powerful as every other track on the record.

“Cyber Dystopia” is all about the world we are living in right now: artificial intelligence, smart houses, smartphones, self-driving cars, deepfakes, fake news, cybernetic warfare, metaverse, social networks, the internet of things, machine learning, virtual reality...
We are definitely entering a new stage of civilization, the post-modern era.
But,
Are we living an 'apocalypse of self-abdication' already? Or we are, as humans, simply evolving as technology evolves? There will ever be a limit to technology? Will it help as much it can also destruct?

We will find out soon.

British tour de force Rene Wise is an exciting talent synonymous with hair-raising and hard-nosed techno. A name that’s been confidently claiming its stake in common lexicon with a passion for polyrhythms, forward-looking frequencies and kaleidoscopic beats. It’s the mind-expanding potential of his favourite genre that forms the basis of his new vinyl release on BASSIANI Records. Drawing on personal experiences of the psychedelic sort, he also cites the role of atmosphere and spatial configuration in the making of his sound, in his own words: ‘the space that the music is presented in, is hugely important and there are some very unique and special spaces in the world that capture the true essence of how techno music should be experienced. Securing his place in the scene as a mainstay after consecutively acclaimed releases on his own record label and beyond as well as lengthy touring around the globe’s best venues, Altinbas returns to Token the only way he knows how. The Fuse resident’s ethereal mark on driven techno comes this time with an aquatic touch, diving further into his bubbly architecture and melodic intrigue. 

‘Voyage’ can mean many things; the past few years have been an incessant trip across the world's greatest sound systems and most dedicated audiences for the Belgian producer, or then perhaps it’s a reference to the climactic and emotional nature of his productions. In any case, it’s also the title track for his third EP on Token Records. Balancing warmth and anticipation, Altinbas is able pack in all the elements of a timeless record while still providing the space to breathe. Smooth and introspective, ‘Voyage’ kicks off the EP on a cloud of a club roller. ‘Stygious Night’ shares the first side with a more minimal but nonetheless effective approach. The tonal synth work on this record begs for a powerfully round system worthy of only the best dancefloors, and the space that washes around in the background gives it true dimension. Maintaining minimalism with structure through drum arrangement, ‘Stygious Night’ is reminiscent of a not so distant past in Berlin crafted with a clearly modern approach. As the record flips, ‘Venus Ballroom’ takes us by surprise with an uncommonly resonant sound at the forefront. This stylistic switch blends perfectly with historic tracks on the label that have come to define its sound since 2007. Hypnotic, psychotic, quirky, and mental - ‘Venus Ballroom’ proves a deep understanding of the music and appreciation of versatility. ‘Psychosphere’ closes down the EP with a classic sound of dissonant stabs to resonate through a foggy room. Altinbas highlights his sound with frantic clap sequences and short rides to keep his percussion rolling but dry while his synths create the acoustic he’s been known to craft for the past few years. To have everyone agree on level of taste and technical capability is tough, which is why this certainly won’t be the last time Altinbas will team up with Token to roll out his cutting-edge work.

This VA brings together electronic artists from around the world, united in solidarity with the people of Gaza. In the face of silence and inaction from our governments, we believe it’s our responsibility, as artists and human beings, to contribute however we can.

SawtPalestine is an independent association founded by Ahmed Jome, a Palestinian based in Marseille, with the mission of building a bridge between Gaza and the World. Their work focuses on supporting orphans and displaced families in Gaza, especially those with no contact or aid from the outside.
On the ground, a local team operates daily to provide direct financial, emotional, and recreational support to children and families in need. Long-term, SawtPalestine aims to build an orphanage.

Since its creation, the association has also launched a traveling Palestinian kitchen, collaborated with activist networks and artists from different fields, and organized events to raise awareness of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
