They recently stopped by KEXP to play songs off their twelfth studio album, Wild Loneliness, released in early 2022. The band chats with Cheryl Waters about the collaborative nature of the record and how the addition of voices such as Sharon Van Etten, Camera Obscura’s Tracyanne Campbell, and Mike Mills of REM helped elevate both the album and the band as a whole.

Luc Angenehm was born 1991 in Duesseldorf and grew up in the lovely city of Langenfeld, Germany. Prevailed by his parents to take piano lessons for 10 years, it turned out to be more than helpful in his future career. Later, Luc got introduced to a wide range of contemporary house music by his older sister. Inspired by this music, he felt the urge to purchase producing equipment and take professionel producing lessons at Modern Musik School Cologne (Vibra). Starting off to develop his skills in producing at the age of 17, he worked on his style which can be best described as a mix of Progressive, Minimal, Deep and Tech House eversince.

Because of the complex nature of these songs, I decided not to include lyrics - rather to accentuate my favorite pieces of each song with cello, fiddle and mythical vocals. Being born and raised in Brazil while also half Japanese, Gaby Endo isn’t shy of distinct global endeavor. With a tech and deep house blend running through her blood, the former Hong Kong residing DJ took Asia and its neighbors to another musical level, running her own branded parties and showcasing her devout record collection to dance floor enthusiasts. 2015 saw Gaby Endo highlight the anticipated ‘Events in China’ panel at the debuting IMS China, where her global knowledge of underground scenes has translated perfectly into Asia and beyond. Relishing in the culturally diverse territory, Gaby has whole heartedly embraced musically educated dance floors while also inviting newcomers to her own musical world. As co-founder of the Rewind rooftop parties in Hong Kong , there is no stopping the road ahead for Gaby, taking her signature sound to the people. Influenced by her latin roots and Brazilian background, sets are build around warm melodies, ethnic elements and rhythmics that occasionally delve into a tribal and mystical feel. Not limited to that she also explores the worlds of deep progressive, deep techno, minimal  techno and ambiance through her sets.
 Shadowing sonic influences from DJ Koze, Sasha, Christisan Loffler, NU, Acid Pauli, Guti, Axel Boman, The Orb and Nils Frahm to name a few, the soul pleasing odyssey her club sets lure are a classy affair making her downright infectious. Music has been a powerful tool for herself and societies around her, bringing together the energy and life the positive effects that sound can inspire.

Zwischen Menschen entsteht Harmonie wenn sich zwei gut verstehen, sie einen draht zueinander haben oder einfach die "Chemie stimmt". Solch "harmonische Beziehungen" resultieren aus gemeinsamen Interessen, einem ähnlichen Geschmack oder weil sich beide gut ergänzen.
Ein Künstler erschafft ein harmonisches Werk wenn sich sowohl Form, als auch Farbgebung nahtlos ineinander fügen. Musiker erzeugen harmonische Musik durch die spezielle Anordnung von Tönen. 

Meister der Harmonik jedoch, ist die Natur. In jeder Pflanze und allen Lebewesen, seien sie noch so klein, kann man sie entdecken. Mathematisch ausgedrückt ist der goldene Schnitt die Formel für Harmonie. Und genau jenes Ordnungprinzip ist charakteristisch für Mutter Erde.

Das nachfolgende Set von Nõpi ist Harmonie pur. Jedes Lied passt zum nächsten und gemeinsam ergeben sie ein rundes und stimmiges Gesamtbild.

I always found it challenging to record a studio podcast: my analytical mind is trying to calculate every move, evaluate each transition & criticize the selection. I have time, music & equipment at my disposal, but one key element is missing to really tell a story: humans.

I encountered that problem last weekend. Although I was playing music I enjoy, I felt that my technically structured mix was too stiff and impersonal. 

____

Then, some of my favourite humans turned up at the studio. As Ashley, Apolline, Axel & Robin entered the room, the studio was suddenly filled with a great energy & I felt like pressing the rec button again, just for fun - this is when the first minutes of  S y m b i o s e  were captured. 
____

I feel this studio mix is an authentic representation of the energy levels I like to navigate through during a longer set. It features some of my favourite tracks in a nod to the past but also has a touch of the future; new sounds that are moving me forward & some of my new compositions. 
____

I’m happy to share this mix as I’m taking off for Argentina, what marks my first adventure of the decade. This music session brought me clarity, presence & joy! I hope you'll resonate with it.
