Happy Valentine's Day. When I first came out as a trans woman, I had the unprompted thought "I love myself" for the first time in my life. I recoiled as if struck, and thus began an ongoing journey of learning to accept my own care. In my early transition, I often wanted to ignore, erase, and shut the door on my past self. 

I wrote this song about coming to love him instead. To hold him gently as a part of myself that simultaneously always is and never was.
