So I tweaked the original version of this cover a little bit.  Added some more backing vocals, tweaked the levels a little bit, changed the end, added some percussion, blah blah blah.  I like this version better.

Happy [Original Song]

Quick backstory:

I wrote a new song last week. This isn't it. I sat down in my little home studio to demo THAT song today, and while my computer was booting up, I sat down at my piano. I just plunked out the opening part to the song I've posted here, and the whole thing proceeded to happen.

I've been "inspired" (if you wanna call it that) by the current state of things in my hometown of Baltimore - and literally wrote these lyrics in about 10 minutes. Here's what I had to say.

"Take It Off" (Kesha Cover) Rock Version

This song has an interesting origin.

A while back, I was emailed by my cousin, actor Johnathon Schaech (That Thing You Do!, Prom Night, Quarantine) about some lyrics he had written while overseas filming a movie about the Russian/Georgian conflict called 5 Days of War.

Lyrically, the song drew from John's emotions of how "I missed home. It made me think of all the men who fight for our country and how they miss their loved ones." After John penned the lyrics, I wrote the music around them and recorded the song in my home studio. I played/sang everything, with my friend Bobby Jackson provided the drums. After a few rounds of revisions, this is the final version.

Here's the lyrics:

This Is How I Will End Up Famous...

So a while back, I was asked (by someone who randomly found me online - gotta love the internet!) to rework this Plain White T's song. They wanted the song to be used at their wedding, as the song for their first dance as a couple. They wanted a slower version, more suited for a wedding - so this is what I came up with.

Oddly enough, a few weeks later, someone found THAT version online, and wanted to know if THEY could use my version at THEIR wedding - and asked if it was possible to have it work as a duet, as if the man/woman were talking to each other. So I enlisted the help of my friend Nikki, we tracked her parts in an afternoon, and this is what the final product was! Hope you dig!

Hi...I'm Scott.  I'm a singer/songwriter and I play a bunch of instruments.  This is where I post music that I work on outside of the band.  Covers, old demos, whatever.

I also consider myself an amateur engineer/producer when it comes to music; I love recording/producing in my home studio to see what I can cook up.  When I'm tired of the DIY route, I like to take my projects to a real (read: not my home studio) studio to get the final job done.
