We're very happy to share with you for the 59th episode of our podcast serie, this amazing musical journey from Dj, live performer and label owner Głós.

The mix is a hybrid set divided into two acts. First part is shaped in ambient textures, soothing and with dreamlike atmospheres. All of a sudden the story changes, unleashing an inner energy with refinement. 

We will host Głós for our last Art Bei Ton Private event on the 24th of June, he will share the decks with Eyvind Blix and Aisha Cue, so come catch him live if you're in Berlin!

Non-Print label head and producer Głós wants to create something outside of the conforming realm of Techno. He has already reinvented his early work through his first album, and his lucid yet straight-to-the-point productions continue to reveal a rarefied character. 

Głós (pronounced ‘Gwos’) has made a point out of not following the sometimes linear Techno patterns with his artistry. He comes from a band-focused Rock-environment and runs his own label, arranged to be a wildly experimental project. In his earlier years, Głós was in several ways a close contributor to the Ressort Imprint label—founded by fellow producer Ekserd—since its start in 2013, already then having left his native Poland to become a Berlin citizen. 

Głós’s successive platform, his very own label Non-Print, released his debut album ‘Fem’ in September 2018—marking the exact five year anniversary date of his first EP, ‘There Is No One Like You’ (Ressort Imprint, 2013). The producer describes it as ‘a collection of re-works as well as new material without any creative limitations’. ‘Fem’ is presented as one continuous mix—with each of the tracks being available in their own individual entity. 

As a producer and performer, Głós’s background, which is a very hands-on analogue way of working—recording for example distorted keyboards and guitars—continues to influence his music. The industrial rawness of these elements are still present in his Techno, only now existing mantled by a softer Drone- and Ambient-type of layer. Głós portrays filmic scenes in his music. You are surely guided by the kick-drum, but the productions are spatial—distant rave signals and voices echo in a fantasy-like landscape. 

His live performances are often a hybrid of his own work and others. The Techno is pure Głós, but in various parts he manipulates selected Ambient pieces, making them his own for his distinctive shows. Again a situation where Głós’s live band-background plays a big part. 

‘Trinity’ is the Berliner's self-proclaimed opus magnus with a playtime of about 5.5 hours that was released on Głós’s own Non-Print. Fresh off the press since then are his latest EPs ‘Swimming In Colours’ and ‘Serenity’ on Affin, showcasing a different approach of Głós opposed to his more up-beat productions made for the dance floor.

Discovering @adelia_adelia a few years ago was pretty mind-blowing to us. How have we missed this distinctive Czech dj listed as one of 55 female artists involved in the hypnotic techno scene by @mnmt.no ? Perhaps it's because it's been three years since Adelia moved from Prague to Barcelona to follow techno producer Massa, her soulmate, both in music and life. Since then, she has been pursuing her career from Spain, creating music for renowned podcasts such as Oslated,  Bahn, Prior Act, Further Sessions, and many more. Most recently, she also did an exclusive mix for our friends from Base Collective.

Adelia is also getting involved in event production. In 2022 she’s been in charge of booking of the premiere edition of Barcelona's Mostra festival. It's been a success and something to keep your eye on for the next spring! To catch Adelia herself, you don't have to wait till the next year as she will be in Prague in December. We will make sure that you can enjoy her sounds to the fullest.

The 12th Weltraum podcast episode that Adelia mixed for us is deep, hypnotic, melodic, with a sprinkle of nostalgia – and perhaps in a bit darker shade than her usual mixes.

Dino Sabatini joins for DifferentSound Podcast #144.

Italian-born producer Dino Sabatini is an artist whose strong body of work has helped to develop his local scene, and redefine what it means to work with electronic music in the 21st century: though his sounds are completely modern, synthesized and rendered with crystal clear production, he continues to tend the deep roots of lost wisdom and mythology that have sustained human creativity for millenia. The name of his personal label Outis, for example, is taken from none other than Homer’s Odyssey (OYTIΣ, literally meaning “no one,” was the pseudonym that Odysseus used to succeed in his infamous deception of the cyclops Polyphemus). This choice of name is not just a clever title for Sabatini’s label, but is a very good indicator of his own character: working within the anonymous electric wilderness of techno, Sabatini continually goes beyond expectations by bringing the senses back into this world of automation and machines,, occasionally invoking the names of the old gods (Poseidon) or goddesses / muses (Mnemosyne) along the way. Along with the work released on the Outis label, Sabatini has been a reliable fixture on labels like Stroboscopic Artefacts, Elettronica Romana (home to several releases by his ‘Modern Heads’ duo with Gianluca Meloni), Adam X’s Sonic Groove, and Prologue. Listeners familiar with these labels’ respective approaches will understand the kind of versatility it takes to record for each one without sacrificing one’s ‘trademark’ sound in the process. In just the past few years, Sabatini has issued sonic statements characterized by sensations of pulsating darkness (2011’s Small steps EP on Sonic Groove), by intense and penetrating hypnotic effects (both the critically acclaimed Daughters of Phorcys EPs on Prologue, 2010), and of course by the cinematic full-length adventure Shaman’s Path (also on Prologue, 2012). The latter, a fully developed concept album dedicated to those musically gifted guides who take us beyond objective reality into more mysterious realms, is as diverse in its sonic details as the rainforest is in biological forms, weaving a many-colored tapestry of sound around its patient, insistent trance rhythms. Not content with even this high level of inspired eclecticism, Sabatini’s new Omonimo LP shows he is capable of sublime romance, featuring graceful collaborations with jazz pianist Antonello Salis. Speaking of collaborations, Sabatini’s quest for a world without self-imposed creative limitations has earned him an impressive number of alliances: again, the Modern Heads team has helped to expand the vocabulary of international techno, as have his production pairings and remixes involving artists such as Claudio PRC, Donato Dozzy, Giorgio Gigli, Shapednoise, Edit Select and Teste. When it’s all pieced together, Sabatini’s still evolving career is like Mircea Eliade’s description of the shaman’s music: “narrat[ing] ecstatic journeys to the sky and dangerous descents to the underworld” – and bringing back something meaningful and lasting from both.

Beka Zakradze aka Petit Astronaute is a Georgian artist who has been developing his style since 2010 paving a trademark hypnotic sound with euphoric elements.
A regular in Georgian electronic scene, you can easily catch him in Tbilisi, Batumi or Kutasi, where he is resident at the legendary BUDE and the artistic director of the newborn label of the club, BUDE Records.
But Beka also crossed borders making his debuts in Berlin (DE), Barcelona (ES), Sofia (BG) and Baku (AZ).
He boasts a prolific discography with a wide variety of releases across some of the finest deep techno imprints around the globe.
Beka is member of the labels BAHN· Records and Khoros, but his productions have also been released in labels such as Circular Limited, Aarden Records, DNC Limited, NFEREE, Ordinamento Selettivo, Modern Minimal, Artscope, Space Textures or Postdynamic.

@lopar_music began his career as a professional DJ in 2015 at Academia Decibel (Intelligent Division) in Medellin, Colombia. His sound ranges from the deepest to the most hypnotic and mental. French producer Clarence Rise has developed a strong, intense and singular musical identity, where incisive techno meets the icy atmospheres of coldwave. Some people characterize his work as Cinematic or Cold Techno, with a strong focus on complex rhythms, dark sound design and contemplative melancholy.

Into The Abyss #033 | Latmos

Grown in the midst of Finnish spruce forests and the long and cold nordic winters, Latmos
pours these elements into his mind entwining Techno tracks.
The music of Latmos is known from it's warm and weighty basslines, cavernous
soundscapes and highly detailed modular synth motifs. His music holds a psychedelic
quality; not in a brash but rather in an immersive and delicate way.
Latmos records every track in real-time with sounds coming from various hardware
synthesizers. With this very hands-on approach in music production, Latmos aims to create
the sence of something being ”alive” in his music. The synth sounds of Latmos are everevolving and interacting with each other like being part of a living organism.
The song arrangements of Latmos are often quite minimalist, focusing on a few main
elements with just the right amount of sound effects to tie everything together. By having
enough space between different sounds, it opens a window for deeper exploration. Within
each single sound there's a new world to be discovered!
Latmos has never cared for trends, he rather sticks to developing his own signature sound
and searching for new and unexplored waters in music. He approaches making electronic
music in a simillar fashion to painting an abstract art piece. Rather than trying to portray
something from reality as it is, Latmos uses different forms of sound to evoke emotions
related to it. He often deals with abstract themes in his music like: the human mind, space
and nature for example. Also abstract in nature, electronic music offers the perfect medium
to explore these kinds themes.
Latmos has released music on various labels such as: Subosc, Blacklabel Distillery and
Cinus. His music has also been remixed by Deep Techno pioneers Mike Parker and Samuli
Kemppi.
The music of Latmos has been played by highly respected DJs like: Oscar Mulero,
P.E.A.R.L., Dimi Angelis, Patrik Skoog, Denise Rabe, Magna Pia, Eric Cloutier, Vincent
Neumann, Dino Sabatini and Blazej Malinowski to name a few.
As a DJ Latmos is able to adapt into various venues and scenarios. He is always bringing
something fresh to the table and keeping the listeners always on their toes.

Our final mix of the year welcomes Ute.Rec co-founder Marius Bø, whom I had the distinct pleasure of meeting in the Norwegian mountains this summer. Comprised entirely of unreleased material from the collective, Marius' composition is slow-burning alchemy, pure oneiric fire, unforgettable from first spark. "Space does not exist," instructs Louise Bourgeois, "it is just a metaphor for the structure of our existence." Listening, we dissolve, recalling the somatic wisdom of those who would sculpt the physical to capture the invisible.

Beginning with layers of atmosphere and deeply intrinsic rhythms, listeners feel at ease to float into a forgiving blend of otherworldly sounds. I've been in touch with Jonathan for a while and their recent change of heart intriged me so much that I decided to invite them for the last episode of this year.

E:CHOES is the project between the DJ/producer duo Gui Sawaya and Jhonatan Jacobs.
Both Brazilian and living in Miami, the duo grew passionate for the dark, melodic and hypnotic Techno.
