The history of the Moths album. 
It occurred to me one day to compose songs that would have such a delicate, ballad-like character and would be permeated by some deep form of tenderness and ephemerality. So I composed more musical themes and arranged them with an ensemble of five instrumentalists.
Waiting in the UK was Justina, whom I found by chance on Soundcloud, to sing it all. But the Covid pandemic came and somehow we didn't get the idea through.  I felt very sorry that we didn't manage to record the songs. I then enlisted the help of Christian, who re-dressed all these musical ideas with beautiful arrangements and great instrumental parts. Over the course of several years, Justyna and Christian and I sent each other individual layers of recordings over the internet until we finally put together a whole album of these.

Fanfare/Rossle Music is an archive documenting years of musical friendship.
We started our adventure together in the 1990s playing in a band called Gin and Tonic
After the band went on hiatus, we each pursued what was in our souls.
Christian composed and published electronic music and did covers of many great pop hits, Jan, meanwhile, took up sound design for theatre performances for a while and then pursued other ideas in the areas of rock and improvised music.
Years later we returned to further joint projects, which are available here.

Historia płyty the Moths. 
Przyszedł mi kiedyś do głowy pomysł by skompletować piosenki, które będą miały taki delikatny, balladowy charakter i będzie je przenikać jakaś głęboka forma czułości i ulotności. Komponowałem więc kolejne muzyczne tematy i aranżowałem je wraz z pięcioosobowym zespołem instrumentalistów.
W Wielkiej Brytanii czekała Justyna, którą znalazłem przypadkiem na Soundcloudzie, by wszystko to zaśpiewać. Ale przyszła pandemia Covid i jakoś nie udało się nam doprowadzić pomysłu do końca.  Bardzo mi było żal, że nie udało się nam zarejestrować tych piosenek. Zwróciłem się wtedy o pomoc do Christiana, który wszystkie te muzyczne pomysły ubrał na nowo w piękne szaty aranżacji i świetnych partii instrumentalnych. Przez kilka lat wraz z Justyną i Christianem wysyłaliśmy sobie przez internet poszczególne warstwy nagrań aż w końcu złożyliśmy z tego cały album.

the Moths

The inspiration for this material came from Pink Floyd's The Wall album. 
We wanted to create something that would take the form of a concept album, where we would tell a series of stories revolving around concepts such as war and manipulation.
Due to the fact that all the elements of this puzzle were created within the framework of so-called home recording - without the participation of a well-equipped recording studio and producers - and that a total of about 40 people took part in the recording - the whole process, composing, arranging, recording and mixing, took several years. 
Due to the nature of the album as well as its content, those taking part in the recordings will remain nameless. However, we would like to thank all of these people sincerely for their contribution to its creation. Without you, this album would not exist!

Inspiracją do powstania tego materiału był album The Wall Pink Floyd. 
Chcieliśmy stworzyć coś co będzie miało formę płyty koncepcyjnej, gdzie opowiemy szereg historii krążących wokół takich pojęć jak wojna czy manipulacja.
Z uwagi na to, że wszystkie elementy tej układanki powstawały w ramach tzw. home recordingu – bez udziału świetnie wyposażonego studia nagraniowego oraz producentów – a w nagraniach wzięło łącznie około 40 osób – cały ten proces, komponowania, aranżacji, nagrywania i miksowania, trwał kilkanaście lat. 
Z powodu charakteru płyty jak i jej treści, biorący udział w nagraniach, pozostaną bezimienni. Chcemy jednak wszystkim tym osobom serdecznie podziękować za wkład w jej powstanie. Bez Was nie było by tej płyty!

Dear listeners. The song we are just publishing here is an excerpt from a large whole entitled “ Góra G - G. Mountain”. This song, as well as the entire album, was sung in Polish. 
The inspiration for this material came from Pink Floyd's album The Wall. 
We wanted to create something that would take the form of a concept album, where we would tell a series of stories revolving around concepts such as war and manipulation. The result was a very personal statement.

There is a story between the songs.
The story told by this elderly lady is the true story of a group of Hungarian brothers forcibly conscripted into the Wehrmacht who were dying near where this elderly lady's mother lived.This mother talked to one of the dying soldiers and told her daughter this story. This daughter is the old lady who tells this story on this record. The story is horrible, but also extremely moving because of its finale.

GOLGOTHA

Everyone harbours some dark secrets. Mine is that I have loved the Bee Gees since I was in primary school and that, in between diving into the depths of sonority, while my beloved Shepherds of Cats lie lethargic on radiators and wiggle their tails inertly, waiting for the next tour, I compose songs and ideally they should be sad ballads. And I would like to write about one such ballad now.
Let me start with an anecdote like this. Once, many years ago, I sat down on the sofa in my room in the evening, picked up an electric guitar, put the capo on the fifth fret and started to strum the strings with my index finger. Suddenly, by complete chance, I played an interesting chord progression. I thought to myself: cool - I'm composing a song. About half an hour later, when I had the chord progression completely worked out, I thought: now I need to come up with a vocal melody line. And...so humming quietly to myself I realised that I was singing the melody line of Let's dance Master David B. 
Haha - I had accidentally “composed” the song again!
Some time later I told this story to David McLean to which he told me that he too had once had the same situation when, sitting at the piano composing some of his own work, he suddenly started playing the Imagine song by John L. Haha! It's all been done before!
And now I would like to share with you a cover of this song. Feel free to listen to it.
We recorded the song during the sessions for The Moths' self-titled album, but for obvious reasons it did not feature on this release. The original cover for the Moths album was designed by the invaluable Jean Paul Schareck aka subgrafik.com.

When we were arranging this song with Christian Rossle I asked him to play the drums in the style of the great master Vinnie C - judge for yourself if he succeeded. In my opinion YES!
