Bang Goes The Gun is an uptempo alt-pop gem which takes inspiration from Motown and the Northern Soul scene, updating the sonic palette to include synths, orchestra hits, and, as always, the dual male/female vocals of Chris McIntosh and Jen Davies. It's  the third and final single before the band’s debut album is released in May 2024 via the band's own Vinyl only record label, Defend Vinyl Records. Following on from Do The Right Thing (the previous BBC Radio 1 supported single)

Bang Goes The Gun

The HVNZ (heavens) is an American Alternative rock band that leans more on the side of new wave/indie sleaze due to their heavy use of 80’s styled synthesizers. Formed in 2020 on the Space Coast of Florida, they have released 5 music videos, several singles and an EP titled “Everything is Fine”. Their live shows are loud, energetic and punchy. Whether accompanied by their original video backdrop or not they prove to be a can’t miss performance to see and hear.

While I was working on a rougher, heavier track, this song came to me during a quiet strumming session. Old Man Hold On evolved into a rock ballad with deep symbolic meaning. It’s a reflection on loss, love, and resilience, inspired by the moment my grandmother passed away and my grandfather was left alone. The song captures the weight of absence, the struggle to hold on, and the fragile beauty in memories that stay with us. Raw, emotional, and intimate, it’s a tribute to enduring through grief while finding strength in the simplest moments.
