Led By Master Yahya Alavi

Group's leader Master Yahya Alavi was born in 1981 in Mashhad, Iran. In 1991, he started to learn and practice Santour from Ali Akbar Nattagh. During 1999 to 2006, he met a number of musicians and acquainted himself with their work.Some of them where Ardavan Kamkar, Majid Kiani, Houshan Kamkar and Mansour Nariman. Yahya began to compose professionally in 1999 and has been invited to perform in multiple events, TV channels and together with his award winning ensemble, in numerous concerts inside and outside of Iran.

Music fans first heard the miracle voice of Jimmie Herrod on record with Pink Martini's release of the single "Exodus" in 2018. The Pacific-Northwest based singer has been touring full time with the globe-trotting "little orchestra" Pink Martini for the past two years, his breathtaking soaring vocals bringing an instant standing ovation at each Pink Martini show. 

To help more fans worldwide witness this thrilling new voice, Pink Martini bandleader Thomas Lauderdale has produced a special five-song ep featuring Jimmie's astonishing talent, "a voice like a beacon of hope" (Seattle Times), accompanied by Pink Martini. Faran Ensemble's music is a journey through the sounds, landscapes and cultures of the east. We play original new compositions on ancient instruments - the Arabic Oud, the Azeri Kamancheh and various percussion instruments from Persia, Africa and the Middle East. Our concert offers ecstasy and serenity, meditation and dance. The music is purely acoustic and all compositions are original instrumental pieces – no words and no interpretation on this journey, as for us music is an adventure to explore, where each tone is a milestone and each note is a path.
