Most of these tracks were were not made with the intention of ever releasing them. We simply made them to play out.

Dominic Ridgway - Levitate

Originally hailing from Japan, Akira Knightley is a London-based Drum and Bass DJ specialising in the deeper, more leftfield sides of the genre. Fast-forwarding through his squat raving as a teen in London and via an immersive stint living in Bristol as a student, he is now a resident of the esteemed Community-led Subtle Radio, as well as for SDC, a grassroots forest rave collective based in West London.

With a knack for unearthing ‘hidden gem' type tunes and a love for the more niche corners of the genre (such as the Autonomic Movement), his signature style combines ethereal melodies, engaging drumwork and gritty low-end bass weight to devastating effect. This mix is a Lo-fi, textured affair; weaving a journey through minimal dnb, jungle and halftime with both bite and elegance towards a haunting conclusion.

Akira Knightley - Full Spectrum Mix Challenge

Mattias Östling makes a welcome return to Love Love as Rolando Simmons for new LP 'Animatronics' after recent forays on Analogical Force and Furthur Electronix and nearly 8 years on from his Love Love debut 'World Building'. Hailing from rural Sweden, Östling creates understated but rich and dreamlike productions which have seen him become a familiar name beyond the braindance circles his music first found a home in, playing live at venues in the UK like Fold and Houghton Festival.  
  
As is characteristic of Rolando Simmons' work, a strong sense of narrative runs throughout this LP. 'Animatronics' stylistically plays across the gamut of Electronica, from the lush, playful braindance of 2nd track 'Purple Soap', to the upbeat syncopated rhythms within 'GlobalGroove Dust Club', and the slowly advancing icy ambient techno dirge of closer 'Memory Defrost'. The ephemeral ambient elements laced throughout allude to a sense of comfortable sedation but darker shades no doubt loom beneath. Measured in its operation and warm in its presentation, the album often steers into unknown spaces, moving through a range of tonal shifts, all the while feeling contained within a unified and detailed imaginary world.

A i w A, a core artist of the Farbwechsel stable is back to Hungary’s celebrated label with his third release. I’d rather take you out is a collection of ten analogue boogie jams, each inspired by a gif. On the album, these endless visual loops transform into live recordings of barely fleshed out melodies that constantly run around in circles but somehow still remain elusive. By design, the whole record maintains a very lo-fi, albeit controlled aesthetic that is supported by antique drum machines and synths. All in all, it’s still a very exquisite, classy sound not unlike listening to Jimmy Edgar on a malfunctioning Walkman. Warm, peaceful, slo-mo dance music. Works best if you’re a pro football player in Louboutins, who takes pleasure in cruising through the city behind a tilted windshield, doing 30km/h.
