Before now, no one has done an album with the brief of being a "hauntology" themed project. The first "Farclose Presents" album makes history by defining the genre.

From a collection of young artists, growing up around the time the idea was being shaped by some of the greats of IDM; Aphex Twin, Burial, and Brian Eno being just a few.

Ranging from gliding jungle beats and soaring ambient soundscapes, to dusty melancholic house, the label's first compilation album takes you on a journey through nostalgia, reminiscing of the past.

Exploring maximalism and minimalism, fusing hyperpop with hauntology, meticulously raw and focussing on pleasing the shortest of attention spans, @fredclose's debut mixtape breaks apart the internet by putting together lost audio from old videos and joke projects conceived in his youth.

Inspired by SOPHIE, Hudson Mohawke, Arca, Jessy Lanza, Peggy Gou, Danny L Harle, Aphex Twin, Sam Gellaitry, Cookiee Kawaii, Machinedrum, Mr. Oizo and Machine Girl, it feels like scrolling through a Gen Z's TikTok feed: full of short and sweet surprises.

About his mixtape, Fred said, "My concept when I started this album was to make a continuous string of ever-evolving music, referencing all the sound sources or ideas in the track titles. I suitably stumbled upon the word 'Automatism' while browsing Wikipedia and thought it s definition fit the style in which I'd created the mixtape - spontaneously throwing shit at the wall to see what stuck!"
