Bygone times,

Was humanity happier? Was freedom for all greater? Has the human imagination and ability to formulate stories, and perhaps actual experiences,  in stone, paintings, orally and on parchment and paper in the form of fairy tales, religions, etc. been more important to humanity, than actual life.

It can often be experienced as if we rather live on the hope of the future, a vague image of something that does not exist yet, because we heard from someone or read somewhere that it is better there, and at the same time we have a very hard time remembering our history , if you go further back than yesterday, or possibly last week.
Yes, man and his way of thinking, is a paradox of confusion and contradictions, in his throws between now...before...and then.

Armageddon

Humanity, of course, could not refrain from...pressing the red button. A button press that created the endless emptiness and silence from a cracked shell, of a formerly wonderful planet, but now, cold and desolate, floating in pieces without contact, never more able to harbor life.

For whom and for what, is that thought even worth thinking? What is the profit? And who will be able to enjoy it?

The human body made it through a few hundred thousand years, but the brain did not make it. It collapsed from too much stress and impact, and then promptly reverted to more lizard-like control.

What did humanity do that went so wrong? Could we have done it another way? Was it inevitable.....or is it an inborn error in our brain, and in the way it developed.....or under developed?.....Hmmmmmm......

Thoughts for humanity & Reflections in the pale light of winter - Peter, David & Seagull

The human brain is a very advanced part of all of us, but at the same time very unspecific and fluctuating in its functions. What I mean is that although it mostly works concretely, rationally and logically based on insights, experience and level of knowledge of the individual, it sometimes becomes very illogical and causes us to get stuck in irrational, abstract and absurd thoughts and behavior.

Every individual has their own inner circles of thoughts, feelings, memories, hopes, desires, morality, ethics and an intend to .... etc. But something in our society and the world we live in makes more and more people, and unfortunately also more and more young people, lose their footing, and lose their way in the safe inner circles, so much so that they commit terrible acts against others, both humans and animals and our nature and sometimes also against themselves........Hmmmm.

Every day I see how hundreds, even thousands of children around the world are being abused, starved, kidnapped for indoctrination, and indiscriminately deprived of their lives. Those who are the only real capital we have for a future for humanity......

I see it because I and far too many in the "large gray mass" of the world's people allow it to happen. We swear and curse, clench our fists in our trouser pockets, but preferably in private, without spectators. Or we turn a deaf ear, turn our backs and pretend nothing is happening, because we have sooo much own "important" things to do that we don't have time to get involved in everything else on earth........even if it's the most important thing to stand up for in our lifetime.....Hmmm

And this when we could all do so much each, to make it clear to our surroundings, our leaders and governments, our neighbors and friends, and even to our enemies that we no longer accept this. We simply refuse to participate in these absurd and inhumane actions.

But that doesn't help.... it can't be done.... you can't do it that way......
Well, I actually think it can be done........

Every little stream of water, and then every drop counts, they eventually form a very big river, and what can a very, very big and very, very strong river achieve...........

Are we once again headed for a frozen existence, on our little planet. With the increasingly catastrophic weather, for which we are all largely responsible, perhaps it will be.
 
Or will the planet instead burn up from an ever-decreasing atmospheric shield?

Or is our planet just broken pieces sliding through the void after we, humanity, could not speak to each other, choosing instead to annihilate and crumble the place we had in our universe with nuclear weapons........

    Deftly rendered senseless, crippled, deaf and dumb and blind.
    The environmental trust we cast to dust, fair repayment, done in kind,
    No future generations will need our crushing legacy to them remind,

What does a parent, or grandparents say or sing to their children, or grandchildren if any kind of armageddon is here? And how many times have these sentiments been sung, historically and in the present.

Is it comfort..... loss and sadness........ anger....... or does it just describe an endless emptiness, over humanity's inability......

This song flowed out of me at the end of corona pandemic, and then went into hibernation, for some reason. And I apologize, I didn't even write down the lyric, it just came in a moment of inspiration, or was it despair?...... But I think you understand the spirit of the song anyway.

And maybe it is now relevant again with new possible diseases spreading. Bird flu, foot and mouth disease in cattle, measles, ebola, and all the microplastics and other toxic components they now acknowledge are in our food and our bodies, and even in the unborn.....and so many more in different parts of the world.........Hmmmmm........

Unfortunately, it is clear that large parts of humanity, during the course of the journey, again and again, ended up by the side of the road. Are humanity's societies and social structures, built over centuries, really for everyone? Or only for groups of self-selected members?

And what is the difference between the man in the stone cave and the modern man in the cardboard or concrete cave? We can't help but get the feeling that, the man in the stone cave, was somehow happier and more satisfied with his situation. Why? Yes, that is an interesting thought to ponder......

Modern Man

I shuffle to, in my dripping cardboard palace,
Introspect on what the mental mind of evening brings.
The muffled dealer with his clingfilm-wrapped tripping malice

My box of brokenness shadowed by a higher human soul where lumens dare not tread
Detox wrapped in hollow stories still untold that crucify the thoughts within my head.

Woven flaws, tangled webs of sins and hopes, regret a past mis-spent of futures told

Calm Stream

Is there really hope? Is the human mind so developed that we can feel and give support, empathy, help and hope to everyone around us? Why then, do we build walls? And how tall do they need to be, to separate us.....from..... each other?

And why do some countries build mental walls between the sexes of their own people, declaring one gender (read women) far less valuable than the other? Or castes, from so-called high-born to insignificant, despite belonging to the same people. Why is one crow worth more than all other crows?

Humanity progressed with apparently small steps, and a lot of pitfalls. For better or worse. 
And the history of mankind shows with all desirable clarity, that our current situation as a so-called civilization is only a consequence of that we let again and again,  catastrophically failed leadership of humankind, that led us all the way, full circle, from the man in the stone cave to the man in the cardboard cave. 

So shame on us all, our so-called leaders, but perhaps mostly on ourselves for tolerating / electing / supporting them, over and over again throughout our history.... It is very tempting to burst out in one, over our world, for a long time, violently resounding primal scream. I'm Mad As Hell!!!!

Today the rain fell slowly over our home. The drops fell as if in slow motion, and hit our window with an infinitesimal plop, and then ran very slowly down the glass. It reflected the light, so you could see the rainbow in it. Like a little miniature world.

And then I saw it........ infinity........ right there in the very core of the drop. There was infinity....... And it was so enormously beautiful. And my thoughts began to wander, among all the memories, of days gone by.

Perhaps it is in the smallest things that we see the greatest and perhaps also the most beautiful. ;)

Silent Drops

I wonder, peering through the slipping drops - are you still there? 
Do you still feel? Do you still care? Do you still, live?

And are your eyes still that mystic crystal sallowed pastel green?

David D has been doing some legacy production for a close friend. David envisioned this head-to-toe tattooed woman as a feature in a traveling circus or carnival, but in her private life and dreams wanting to be a younger normal person, not an object of scorn or bewilderment. 

He asked me if I had any ideas about incorporating some of Clara's lovely voice. And since the song is a very fun idea and deviates from the norms through this crushing mix of genres, of course I wanted to do what I could.

Dream Of The Tatooed Lady - Elmer Stone, David D, Seagull

This song is, I suppose, a tribute, but it's mainly a big warm, loving embrace of my children and grandchildren, just because they exist. And it is with many fantastic fond memories that I have seen them grow up, and still have the opportunity to follow the grandchildren's upbringing.

The family is a very important part, in all of our lives, and the children are the important capital we have for the future. The saved capital we must educate and nurture tenderly, for the best possible outcome, both for their own part and for society at large.

So all you parents and mothers and grandparents, wishes and hopes for the future probably have their place, but it is not now in this moment, so share the present and the prevailing reality with your children and grandchildren and enjoy the pleasure of being together with them. Time goes by so much faster than you think, and suddenly maybe loneliness and memories are the only thing left. ;)

Is the circle about to close again?

We can all, with a little study of the history of our planet, see how every few million years there comes a catastrophe that brings extinction to most of the things that live on the planet.

Has humanity, through its clueless behavior and actions, despite our enormously short time here, accelerated the event horizon to such an extent that we are now seeing the beginning of another global transformation, for better or for worse?

Slowly Time Running Out

A clear black light has painted out the stars tonight.
A tear-prismed rainbow wells in my eyes.
I’m clinging to my dead rose,
Shuffling down these broken roads,
With no end in sight, no will left to fight.

A long black cloud veiled through the moonlight, where,
The softest requiem prayer is lost in the air.
As a spadeful of dirt,
Hits the casket of hurt,
To bury my cares and inter our despair.

When the sands of time are shifting no more,
I’ll stand behind, with those left on the shore.
And as Jerusalem compels
Peals of leather muffled bells
Will chill to the core with their funereal score.

Sometimes we can all lose our footing for a moment. Most of the time, we can quickly regain our balance and move on. But what happens if an entire collective loses its footing at the same time?

Is there then the possibility of finding our way back to the path we should follow, and if so, what is the point of following it? Is it hope, possible faith, or just a desire for a life, or a mix of many emotions?

The Lost Path

Peter
Stumbling down, falling from the path
Wondering what the future holds
Crumbling in the aftermath
The Easterlies bring winter’s cold
Pushing upwards, clamber back
We won’t concede to darkness clouds
Our trajectory is back on track
For a society with head held proud

David
Won’t concede our children’s hopes
To nuclear weapon isotopes
Christmas calling from the bells
To drag us back from human hells
We won’t concede our freedom’s joy
By falling for the devil’s ploy
With a chain of hands across the land
We refute his vile demands

Seagull
We lost our way in yesterdays
Seems we found the wilderness
But sanity will find a way
To build afresh and fix the mess
Reconstruct and laser cast
Shine the light with focused beam
Illumination clear at last

Won’t consign future’s child
To living in a world defiled

Syria - a region in our world that has been subjected to conquest and reconquest throughout time. A powder keg in the entire Middle East through the centuries.

And even though the area that today includes several countries, is a large part of the cradle of humanity's development of language, writing, democracy, astronomy, etc., the violent attitude has unfortunately never completely subsided over the years.

This violent attitude that in our present day, for various reasons, has spread to Ukraine, Israel/Palestine and others.

How can we as people living in the present, so strongly influence our surroundings and leaders, that it creates a better and brighter environment for our children and grandchildren and for the future?

Mother Syria 

Hold my hand up to the sun to reach this smouldered rubble
Lift my eyes again with little patience left in trust
Assad years, father and son, each the devil’s double
Gassed and burned my cradle nation to blood-soaked mental dust

With his face alight the new guy’s mission, pure, sent from heaven
Promises truth, gold, light and god in his virgin presidential pledge

New boots crush freedom’s fingertips, as they’re clinging to the ledge

And so to a perhaps slightly different outcome of a number of considerations we discussed when we made "Mother Syria" ten months ago.....

Where was the cradle of life for humanity?
What was the first language?
What was the first written language?
What did the first cultures look like?
Did they arise in the East...or West....or in the middle of....Hmmm.

Yes, scholars dispute that.
And it is likely to continue like this, since no absolute proof has been presented, only assumptions, interpretations, etc. of the small findings made of previous existences of human presence.
Yes, technology and research possibilities are constantly developing, but it is probably quite far-fetched that we will finally get a complete and credible account.

I personally believe that life started in many different places on our planet, and at about the same time, when some important factors needed to be fulfilled, such as where the conditions and surroundings were generally favorable for human life to sprout, grow and develop, on a planet in constant development. In a time course that is almost incomprehensible, and which has been influenced by factors in the space we are in, which we do not really understand either.

So this little piece of music doesn't give you any answers, but perhaps gives you a moment of contemplation on the questions. ;)

I see, feel, hear the rain and thunder, over our world, and it makes me wonder about a few things......

Where did... common sense go?
Where did... the knowledge and realization that we have nowhere to go go? 

Where did... the courage and will to stop the gates of hell from constantly standing ajar go?
Where did... your own will go?

Some of these natural lessons extend into the moral structure of humanity as it must evaluate from time to time if novel ideas work or if the ancient wisdom is better...and so it rains.

There was a country, there was a city, and there was a people, who were widely known for their wealth and powerful gods. But they angered their gods with their bad behavior, so the gods decided to wipe them off the face of the earth.
Yes, the story of Atlantis has many interpretations, just like this musical interpretation of what happened on that fateful day. To this day, there are many who believe that Atlantis actually existed in our world, but no one has been able to prove it with certainty.

What do you think? Did it really exist, or is it just a moral tale?
Regardless, the fairy tale is a story that gets the imagination flowing, and we hope this little piece gets your imagination flowing too.

We suffer no shortage of terrible and terrifying events for humanity, whether it is our earth that produces them, or that human souls have created and continue to create them in their dismal imperfection.

Classroom whispers slither down the empty halls
In a vacuum of confusions

My thought is that we all have an inner being that lives with us. Our own inner circle. Call it the soul, the consciousness or whatever you want. Probably it learns through our upbringing and education how to help us and maybe it is there to guide us when we face difficult questions or situations in life.
No, that idea has nothing to do with religion for me. I do not believe in any god or denomination. I just think that is how our mind and brain usually work, for better or worse......

Unfortunately, it seems that far too many of humanity are losing touch with this being, and instead are carried away by the increasingly absurd thoughts and ideas that certain people and groups of followers, with the force of insistent repetition, shout out to the world.......Hmmmm

Insults to people, falsified history, empty promises, violence, persecution, war and torture and disgusting behavior both verbally and physically. An endless flood of black sticky smelly filth of violence-promoting culture, that is poisoning more and more of our world, and people's minds, and causes them, maybe sometimes even against their will, to participate in increasingly absurdly disturbed and violent activities.....

Isn't it time we all helped put a stop to this......or? I am mad as hell, and I will not take this anymore.....but is there hope for the children.....for all of us..... and a positive future........and what should we rely on and believe in........Hmmmm

Deep Inside

When your broken moral compass assaults his eternal soul
When folk apportion token fault upon what little faith I hold
When humanity has knifed itself, and hope bleeds from infernal holes
When night's arrival, day concedes, its warmth displaced by bitter Cold

When evolution's vanities lie buried deep in fossil earth
When pagan rite insanities, render cheap, their measly worth
When any good God's lessons die 'neath cloven crackled mirth
When children' hearts bear tender fear from the very instance of their birth

When the simplest of kindnesses stands blatantly denied

A very still contemplation of a summer day.

It's finally some warm summer days after a cold winter and a chilly spring.
It was a day in the shops for us, with a lot of people looking for summer deals, and it was quite nice at first. But the hours passed and the heat pressure increased, and when we finally left my brain felt like it was boiling with all the impressions and voices.

Ripped words and sentences from conversations, children's screams and sometimes crying, the occasional bitter person who threw sour comments around, but surprisingly many were about love in one way or another, which probably belongs to summer, with sun, warmth and joy of life. ;))

To calm my brain, I wanted to try to reflect this day in some form of music, but also with a bit of humor. So I hope this song will make you smile, and maybe you'll recognize yourself.....;))

Hello everyone,
This is the first of three songs we will present during the first part of the autumn. We wish you a pleasant listening, and maybe they will arouse a thought or two. ;)

Are your pursuits in life leading you to find, maybe only when you are old enough, that you just been running around in circles? That you have repeated your mistakes and assumptions over and over again, without gaining insight and understanding, and learning from them...... and perhaps you even recognize mistakes that your parents made, that you promised yourself you would never make......then you are probably not alone.......

Maybe we are all just echoes of the past, who just running around in a inner world of circles, in a lost touch with real reality, and our perhaps shrinking belief in something more important and more valuable and rewarding than the nonsense and lies of politicians and other jawbones that just chatter without thought..... 
And yet, without thinking, we follow these so-called leaders who shouts the loudest, promises the most, are most visible...... and undoubtedly in most cases behaves like the narcissistic and self-absorbed king in the fairy tale "The Emperor's New Clothes" by HC Andersen........

Does this make us angry....or just resigned......or what?..............Hmmmmmm

Usually, most of us want some kind of action in life.....and sometimes you just need a break.....

A break from all the superficiality, the gossip, the blaring news feeds.......quite simply from everything that disrupts your everyday lives with an eternal blaring noise. A fog inside, slowly suffocating you.....

You need to catch your breath, and live, feel and experience again......not just exist through life.

So you just leave......no matter to where....you just need the peace, yourself, your thoughts and feelings, to see, hear, smell, taste, feel, whatever it is that heals and cures your mind and soul.....for real again....And to do this....just for you.....

Do you realize how important that is, for your physical and mental health?........

Have a wonderful summer, and live your life well. No one else will do it for you. ;))

Have you ever seen a shadow of something out of the corner of your eye?
But you can't really see it, touch it or describe what it is. It's just there, annoying.....but also a little scary..
Is it a guilty conscience? A badly disturbed soul. Your own inadequacy? Or your own or someone else's disappointment?......

Or is it all of these feelings and maybe a few more who appears and manifests itself as a ghost to you? A ghost of a sence........which always seems present......no matter what you do....there is always this echo.....and it is with some anguish that we let the difficult moments in our lives pass in our thoughts.........Hmmmm

Ghost of a Sense

Yes, I know you.
I can feel your presence.
I can touch you, smell you.
I see you not by sight of eye
And yet I ken that you are I
That vespered wraith that writhes within
To test my faith, try my sin
Push the bounds to cause offence
A moral, soul thing, ghost of a sense recalls myself, so well defined
Entrenched, walls behind, built so sound of dust that crowned the pity, falling soft amiss,
Deep inside the tears I cry as here I find my self-abyss.

Whispers bringing shadows, filled of secrets therein held,
Memories, morose, piece me still, to wear in time, my wasted face.
And now reside, cast aside, to forge and ever meld,
Of haunting, ringing echoes, that will alone their chime erased.

Ah! But you won't twist me, nor bind me fast, to the sandy doctrines of the misty past,
With its beards and staffs and crinkled testaments.
My future's sprinkled here present with your crass irrelevance and matters not that sat right there,
The blackest chasm in my simpling world so spare,
Where space and time have overspilled the leaking psyche of a crippled mind,
That barely copes, unfulfilled, a crooked, limpid moral health of broken shrines
That hopes to find ....
.......some worthwhile inner self.

Sometimes time whispers, still and softly, and memories creep in, and scenes from life emerge. Meetings with people you have long forgotten, but who you now realize were very meaningful meetings and conversations for you.......

Time is a sometimes strange phenomenon for us humans. Sometimes time passes at breakneck speed. Sometimes it passes so slowly that you wonder if the clocks have stopped. And sometimes it stands still, and a faded memory emerges.......as time whispers to us......Hmmmm.

When Time Whispers

I still remember that evening with polished crystal clarity.   The young exec wannabe, working late.  Customer proposal.  Due date: Friday - getting near.  Crumpled suit needs a dry clean.  Paper everywhere, plastic coffee machine cups stacked between - dear God that stuff was awful.  Another decade until Starbucks would appear.  


Bill, the security guard, dropped by right on time.  You could set your clock when Bill arrived.  Ex NCO in some infantry regiment or other.  Retirement age long come and gone but still working, carrying on, to keep a meaningful purpose, a will, a life, alive.

Of course, he'd never be so presumptive as to sit down.  Stood bolt upright, shoes polished mirror bright and proud half windsor tie knot said all that needed to be said about him, when Bill came around.

Not the most highly educated, but so very wise, worldly wise, and deeply insightful way beyond what any formal education might provide.  From life's academy he'd graduated with a double first and a distinction in human understanding.  I'd have to guess Bill was at least late seventies and you know what, I suspect he'd lied about his age when he got that security job, his last job, just as he'd lied about his age at the other end of the spectrum when he got his first one; and the khaki uniform that came with it.

We'd talk for maybe fifteen minutes little polite chinks of light here and there, revealing cares, what he thought about the news of the day, what his dad might have had to say… 

A soft smile always there on tap, creased facial contours a well worn map, projecting all that he had seen, each and every trodden way, from young and green to old and grey.  I'd bitch and gripe in my usual way, "….. jeepers, what a grind, I can't wait for my retirement day…".  He twitched, paused, fixed my eye, and said "….ah son, don't wish it all away - don't wish it all away….".

Tonight, by the flickered log fire, my aching spine like Chesterfield's spire, old, twisted and bent, I think, that was one hell of a blink of an eye, as life, misspent, passed me by.  Like a whip crack.  Sat in silence, casting back, remembering when, because, I suspect I'm older now than Bill was then.

Old and wizened.
