Upside Down On The Monkey Bars…

Sun is up – we climb out your bedroom window 
& sit on the roof of your kitchen 
& see children bouncing on their trampoline
Only interrupted by the chimes of the ice cream van
Sun is up – I hear The Stone Roses ‘Waterfall’ drifting over rooftops
& everything feels so much nicer, everything looks so much brighter 
Let’s hose down the bikes & go for a ride…

& I don’t want this day to end whilst you are here with me
& I don’t want you to go home or go in for your tea
Coz you have turned my whole world upside down as far as I can see 
So just stay hanging from these monkey bars here with me… 

Sun is up – see the pigeons jostling on the Car Wash roof
We watch the insects buzzing here & there & everywhere busying themselves in the summer air - I beat my personal best at ‘Keepy-uppy’
Sun is up – it’s a vest & shorts & flip flops kinda day
Beer garden weather – tattoo’s on display
People mowing lawns & whiling away their day in different ways

& I don’t want this day to end whilst you are here with me
& I don’t want you to go home or go in for your tea
Coz you have turned my whole world upside down as far as I can see 
So just stay hanging from these monkey bars here with me…
