Zoo Party

This is my first track for #FAWM 2016 (February Album Writing Month), written for contrabass, cello, viola, and violin in Cubase 8.5 Pro, with EastWest Orchestra Gold sounds.

"Anaphora" is a Greek word (ἀναφορά) meaning a "carrying back" (hence its meaning in rhetoric and linguistics) or a "carrying up", and so an "offering".

Someone kindly pointed out that the first half of the song is basically Bach's prelude in G major for Cello and... they're right. I'll take that as a compliment to my long-term memory.

The fourth part of my.. 2016.. FAWM entry. I'm a bit late. But I really wanted to write more themes for it!

I don't feel like it holds up perfectly to the others.. but that's what I had in mind when listening to them again, so hopefully it'll fit well.

This one is named "Ad ostium", literally "at the entrance", and is supposedly a discussion at the gates of heaven.

This one was exceptionally challenging to make - I spent about 9 hours on it. Even though the result is far from perfect, I'm happy with (parts of) it.

The guitar is messy (because I haven't played it in months, had a short time to record before my fingers gave up), and the high parts are hit-and-miss - many many takes didn't fix the problem, because a single tiny mistake and the whole thing is tainted.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this one!
