Fast Forward Audio Series

For the last 7 years the Fast Forward Audio Series has been running, we have had the pleasure of presenting more than hundred different artists ranging with all from livesets, solo recordings and b2b sessions on it.
 It has been interesting to follow the journey of those artists from where they were then, and how their sound has evolved and influenced them and the scenes around.  

So for this 100th edition of the series we are very pleased to present yet another influential artist to you: TASHA

Tasha’s DJing style matches this textured background of her influences and has developed into a master-flow of form - weaving tunes together seamlessly from her bass informed home of the UK alongside four four techno forms born in Berlin and Detroit.  Her residency on Rinse FM Radio has been a backbone of Tasha’s approach as a DJ - expressing her appreciation for electronic music inviting guests in from all over the globe. 

 In 2016 Tasha launched the label Neighbourhood with Randomer, Cadans, Kamikaze Space Programme, Metrist and Forest Drive West all featuring to date, and the latest edition of the V/A compilation HIVE series has just released its third edition last month. 

In an industry where artists are asked to prioritise their art for social media presence, likes and other vacuous pursuits, Tasha is very much in demand for her ‘music first’ attitude, selection and ability.
A refreshing outlook and positive future awaits the DJ, producer, promoter and label owner.

Next up on the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: Elise Massoni

  Based in Paris, Elise Massoni is, first and foremost, a DJ and producer with a distinct style and flawless skills. Her fast-paced and strong selection of contemporary techno, drawing inspiration from the past while embracing the future, has propelled her to prominence as a rising star in the French techno scene.
With her unique ability to bridge the divide between ardent non-techno enthusiasts and purists, Elise commands a magnetic presence, focusing on harmonies and intensity to weave a narrative reflective of the diversity she embodies. Her approach to interpretation has always been grounded in the belief that 'feelings come first'

  About the mix:
 "Feeling a bit drained by winter and under the weather, I wanted to create something comforting, like that old plaid you love to wrap yourself in.
As a teenager, I used to listen to mixes in bed, dreaming of being in clubs while drifting off to sleep, caught in the loop. I tried to capture that feeling here. Hope you enjoy it !"

Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: Menal Batti

Evoking the sonic tapestry of her journey, Menal Batti invites us to immerse ourselves in her transformative and multifaceted soundscape. A testament to her Swedish origins, now flourishing in the vibrant techno scene of Vienna, and currently a resident at filtr in Brno. Her music is more than just entertainment; it's a raw, pulsating expression of self.

Batti weaves her Kurdish heritage into her musical narrative, drawing inspiration from her father's saz, a traditional instrument that symbolizes her cultural roots. With a profound passion for 90s techno music, she embarked on a musical expedition, cultivating a unique style that elegantly marries disparate elements of the genre into a harmonious entity.

Her dynamic progression is celebrated in the energetic dance floors of local clubs such as Grelle Forelle and PRST, and echoes internationally with appearances for Herrensauna, Marcel Dettmann's "Bad Manners" and playing at venues like Blitz Munich, RADION Amsterdam, Tresor Berlin and Lighthouse Festival Croatia, Menal Batti continues to transmit her compelling rhythmic narratives with an atmospheric touch, demonstrating the evolution of her musical identity.

Fast Forward Audio Series #106 - Menal Batti

For the March edition of the Audio Series, we are pleased to present: Shanda

Based in Berlin, Shanda is a DJ & Co-founder of the collective ABYSS (HK) from Hong Kong. With her classical music background being a flutist and love for rave parties, she has played countless shows at Hong Kong underground clubs such as OMA, Social Room, and other top-notch venues. She performed at one of the biggest music festivals in Hong Kong, Clockenflap 2023, and was invited to headline several club nights in Vietnam, Australia, and China.

In pursuit of music inspiration, Shanda recently moved to Berlin, Germany to further explore her sound. She started to be seen very quickly in esteemed Berlin clubs such as RSO, Club OST, OXI, Renate, and Alte Münze. She has also recently debuted at Berlin's legendary techno club, Tresor for their new faces night and completed her first Asia Tour to Hong Kong, China, and Singapore.

Her sound is a blend of dark grooves, raw techno, and psygrooves, pulsating with vibrant percussions and unexpected rhythmic twists that often bring surprises to her audience.

About the mix:
This one-hour mix explores the challenges of love in our complicated era. It captures the essence of a first meeting, the ups and downs of a relationship, and the magical moments that coexist with the struggles. In this mix, I’ve pushed the boundaries of my usual sound, incorporating new elements and rhythms. I hope you enjoy this special art piece of mine!

The April edition of the Audio Series is here, happy to present you with: Monster

With over a decade of experience under her belt, Monster is now rightfully taking her place among Europe's best DJs. Showcasing her omnivorous taste for euphoric and fun music, Monster can be heard playing techno, house, electro, acid, old-school trance, breaks, and everything in between, usually championing producers from her local Polish scene.

Her career started in the late 00’s at Rozbrat, an anarchist squat and social centre in Poznań, Poland. That's where she started throwing Squat The Electricity nights, working tightly with the local scene, popularising electronic music among activists and activism among electronic music fans. Today, she's a member of Oramics, a Polish platform supporting women, non-binary and queer people in electronic music. Their actions came to worldwide attention thanks to the Total Solidarity compilation.

About the mix:
"The mix showcases some of the fast and modern, mostly 4x4 tracks that I've been enjoying recently as well as some broken beat intermissions. It's perfect for the ending of Venus and Mercury retrogrades that we can now all recover from."

There’s beauty in chaos and method to madness, that much is true to the work of this faceless duo from Sweden. SHXCXCHCXSH’s strain of anarchic noise has sparked conversations and head-spinning records ever since the two producers first swapped notes in 2009. For about a decade, Hannes Stenström and Emmanuel Pascal Moreno stayed out of the public eye as a matter of principle, stripping music to its very base, without the weight of prejudice and social context holding it back: ’we prefer to listen to music in the dark, preferably without knowing who made it, when or how’. From the chaos and their loyalty to instinct came the need to find new structures, and so their faceless records united around a theme or musical element. It was a gamble, but their sledgehammer destruction of techno conventions gave some of the most intriguing sounds of the 2010s. Sampling everything from podcasts to YouTube to field recordings, they’re always on the hunt for ‘in-between’, ‘unintentional’ details, a way to composite the strangest and most innovative techno out there. Their staggering releases on Avian pioneered new sounds (and track names), and successfully manufactured the type of music you could hear both at home and in clubs; and 2024 saw them resurrect their Rösten imprint with the release of DO, an infernal four-tracker made for the dancefloor. Bassiani Podcast 257 explores that format further, bringing their stabbing and psychedelic havoc to a crowd facing setting. Immersive and heavy-duty, this one’s an hour-long clip of their snake-pit percussions, mind-bending techno from the enigmatic Norrköping duo.

For the May edition of the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: Nuir

Nuir is a self-taught producer and DJ based in Paris, known for her boundary-pushing approach to electronic music. Drawing inspiration from a rich electronic music culture that spans IDM, trance, techno, and the free party scene, Nuir has carved out a unique sonic identity.

She made her debut as a producer on Mama Told Ya and has since continued to push boundaries with her sound, releasing music on labels such as Maison Close, Ghetec, and, most recently, TM8.

Rooted in Parisian club culture and the French free party movement, Nuir has performed across numerous European cities, including Copenhagen, Bristol, and Yerevan.

Her music has received support from internationally recognized artists, including Mama Snake and Anetha, affirming her growing influence and fearless ability to merge hardware, software, vocals, and live instrumentation into a singular, evolving sound.

About the mix:
This one-hour mix embodies what I seek during this challenging time we are facing — a sonic space for both release and reflection. Deeply connected to the culture that has shaped my identity, I am now driven to contribute to this vision: music as a powerful political and emotional force, creating a space where everyone can freely express themselves.
I wanted the mix to reach both emotional depths and euphoric highs — blending deep introspection with high-energy club sounds. It's about connection through contrast, and the healing power of dance.

Candy Mountain Podcast #009: Earwax

Waves of pulsing, layered techno from the revered Mala Junta resident.

If the electronic music industry is caught in the crosshairs of a battle over what makes for true techno, then D.Dan is one of the underground's great modern emissaries.

A figurehead from the new guard of DJs to arise in the '20s, the Berlin-based artist and Mala Junta resident is an ambassador for a sound that is strongly anchored in the classic roots of techno. His productions, like his mixes, are revved-up takes on the hypnotic wormholes that defined dance floors last decade, but with a fresh (and high BPM) millennial twist. 

Originally from Seattle, D.Dan became enamoured with the spectral stylings of psych rock and shoegaze in adolescence. It's not difficult to see how the cosmic tapestry of bands like Cocteau Twins became a blueprint for the entrancing music he's gone on to make as an adult. His releases on Mutant Future and summerpup are latticeworks of loops and layered percussion, custom-tooled for lost hours on the dance floor and drawn-out mixes behind the decks. 

This approach directly extends into his DJ practice, where he pairs song selections from contemporaries that mirror his own reduced, controlled approach to techno. RA.994 is a Grade A display of contemporary four-to-the-floor from flagbearers like Roll Dann and Marcal.

And like D.Dan's standalone records, his RA Podcast finds room for sweetness—the intermittent peal of an open clap, the steady ripening of a chord—while ultimately emphasising the beauty of function and form over flair.

Bassiani Podcast 272 brings together two techno heavy-hitters for a three-hour bout of heady, rolling grooves. In one corner comes Georgian mainstay and grassroots agitator NDRX, a formative member of Tbilisi's techno contingent. His early efforts in expanding the city's nightlife offerings helped drive radical change, and shaped the decades since. His mission further translated into the founding of Stare at DJ (2012), and 11th Floor (2015). Both are vehicles for the gathering and promotion of local talent without which, Georgia today would look much different. In the other corner comes Dustin Zahn, a midwestern champion for tribal rhythms and pulsating hypnotism. Heavily armed with a flurry of references including the brain-melting IDM of the late 90s and iconoclastic beats, Dustin founded Enemy Records in 2004. In recent years, he has made appearances on labels like Blueprint, Token, and Rekids. He also hosts the Trainwrecks Podcast, an outlet for intimate face-to-face chats with industry peers. This storied duo are a menacing match, a b2b pairing that manifests the adrenaline-fueled techno native to both their sounds and whips up a sum greater than both its parts. This latest number is a bout of fevered techno havoc devised by two sonic confrères, an auditory onslaught of hammering loops recorded live at Bassiani's season closing night.
