For those not already familiar with DJ TOOL, he is the co-organizer and resident DJ of Mala Junta. Mala Junta is a smaller intimate party with a focus on old school, faster and harder techno and trance that is merging in Berlin. His sets are an authentic and always well-executed blend of sexy techno and gloomy trance.

Fast Forward Audio Series #58: DJ TOOL

After some enervating weeks, it's now time for something delightful. We welcome the amazing Herrensauna founder for late July's podcast: CEM (@cemdukkha) with a groovy, penetrating, yet smooth mix.

CEM's unique brand of emotive hysteria was forged in Herrensauna's (@herrensauna) hedonistic Berlin furnace in the last few years and as one of the party's two core members, he has been at the heart of the operations since its inception. With the party attracting more and more attention for its critical contribution to Berlin's queer community, as well as their raw italo-metal aesthetic, the opportunity came to move into Tresor (@tresorberlin), where it has cemented its place as a unique addition to Berlin's nocturnal topography. CEM's role in all this is twofold—firstly, as curator of the party's unique mix of frenetic DJs and industrial-edged live performances; and secondly, as one of the resident DJs. The sheer pace of Herrensauna's preferred grade of techno is offset by his enigmatic presence and selection. It's a crucial edge of the party, and it's rightfully brought CEM to the world's attention.

Next up in our Mix Series is Sweden-born, and Berlin-based DJ Philippa Pacho. Pacho is the co-founder of Positive Source, a label started with Blue Hour, focusing on progressive artists while paying homage to our roots in early club culture.

The mix for is a live recording from Vault Sessions, BRET Amsterdam from February 26th, featuring energetic and groovy techno mixed in mixed super seamlessy and skillfully.

Co-founder and resident at the Copenhagen underground rave party Endurance, Ezy is a techno/trance DJ/producer and a time-served mainstay on the floor as well as in Copenhagen’s alternative music underground.

Ezy is one of many artists on the city’s fast techno scene with a history in the punk scene and has built a reputation for delivering tight sets merging fast trippy old-school techno, with low key alternative goa and psytrance cuts, free sounds and own productions.

His style is percussive and energetic, skilfully shifting from funky and agile to gloomy and ghosty. Ezy has released tracks on BunkerBauer, UTE Recs, Fast Forward and is soon releasing his debut EP on his own label Tricky Grain.

Another boiling recorded night at Fuse lands upon us once again. A worthy representative of the Copenhagen underground scene, Schacke takes us through a sound bite of the night dedicated to Fast Forward Productions. 

Armed with tireless practice, the eye for detail of the Moral Defeat label father can be heard through his two hours of music crossed with presence and confidence. With a vast gamut of inspirations, one thing is sure here: groove is king. Latent dynamism, seamless 4/4 transitions, sometimes toying with chopped vocals and deep rhythms, Schacke’s sense for music is both sweet and brainy. Until the next one, hats off to you Schacke.

Mama Snake is the reptilian alias of Sara Svanholm, a Copenhagen-based DJ/Producer whose slithering beats are every bit as cunning as the name suggests. She’s an integral part of her city’s scene and a card-carrying member of collaborative ‘mixed media channel’ Amniote Editions alongside names like Celestial Trax, Hadone and D.Dan. Her full-blooded sound leaves no room for misinterpretation, it is thrilling, primal and overwhelming in the vein of the most compelling main stage techno. There’s a raw practicality to the music too, perhaps a function of her second career as a medical surgeon; Mama Snake wants to create a communal feeling through her work, and there’s the human touch. These rumbling rhythms might sound formidable, but they’re there to bring people together and get both bodies and progressive ideas moving. Bassiani Podcast 163 is pure, unadulterated, percussive power, 80 minutes of coiling loops and white-hot basslines from the Denmark-based techno matriarch.

Fast Forward Productions was formed in December 2015 as a new take on DIY rave culture. All events are built from the ground up, focusing on our local scene and on collaborating with like-minded crews and concepts from abroad.
With a focus on social engagement, and by using activists from the local community to help make the events come to life, Fast Forward actively focus on creating safer spaces at the venues we use. Sexism, racism, homophobia and transphobia are not tolerated.

After the first year of activities, numerous collabs and the establishment of close relationships with like-minded crews all over Europe, we decided to establish ourselves as an agency working with some of the scene´s core members - both DJs and live acts. In doing this we work both as a traditional agency and as a promotional platform for each artist’s creative output.
