Changes is the story of one woman and her journey into the inner realms of her subconscious and hidden thoughts the song is about that journey and her ruminations, as She goes through vicissitudes of change and development, in from her former life to her new man, she has just ran away from a deeply pathological husband.
The scene; "a large front room in a big empty house,  night time thunder hard rain outside, a kind looking woman is sat by a warm fire, she lights up a pretty glass bowel and Journeys" ...
