This is the homily that I plan to give tonight at 7:00 PM on April 13, 2017 at the Mass of the Last Supper, the beginning of the Easter Vigil.  This will be occurring at St. John's in Rapids City.  While Easter Sunday Masses might be packed, you don't have to worry about not finding a seat in Church at any of the other liturgies of the Easter Triduum.  No security of guards will be dragging you out because we have reached seating capacity in the Church building.  To hear what I plan to say tonight you could listen to this recording of my homily.

You Won't Be Dragged Out Of The Easter Triduum

In the Gospel today we see Jesus, the sinless one, allowing Himself to be baptized by John the Baptist in the River Jordan.  He did not need it, yet He allowed Himself to be baptized.  Why is that?  In the homily today I explain how allowing Himself to be baptized shows Jesus' humility, was necessary for the sake of identification of who He was, and how it propels Jesus into His public ministry.  In setting the example for us, it ought to inspire us too to be humble, to understand just how important it is to be identified as a child a God through Baptism, and a gentle reminder that we too are part of God's plan and share in His mission in taking the Gospel message to the ends of the earth,
