"Of the hundreds of up-and-coming producers we’ve worked with over the past four years of FatKidOnFire, there have been a number we’ve known have been destined for great things. Compa, Perverse, Wayfarer, Kaiju, The Illuminated, Chord Marauders - just a few of the artists we’ve worked with who have gone on to rise through the ranks of bass music. When we discovered a 17 year old Parisian late last year, a producer who’d only been making music six months or so, we knew Argo was another artist to add to our must-watch list.

"We’ve been working with Arnaud since the summer of 2013, after hearing Asylum (a tune that’s seen support from a number of respected tastemakers including Chestplate founder Distance). We've followed Argo as he found his feet, helping him create a signature sound that has caught the attention of producers, DJs and fans alike. The young producer has since seen two widely praised releases on Indigo Movement and BASSordeath imprints and a place on Annihilate Audio's debut compilation - and we’re glad to finally add him to the FKOF roster.

"Argo’s FKOFd007 is one of the finest four track EPs we’ve released in our label’s short history. EP-opener Hundred crackles with intensity, full of soft synth hits backed by razor sharp percussion and a brutal sub. Plan B strips things back to the most necessary ingredients, with a threatening atmosphere to test even the strongest resolve. The third track on Argo’s FKOFd release sees us welcome @livingproofmusic to the family for the first time; with the Leeds-based producer putting his stamp on Argo’s superb Asylum. FKOFd007 closes with Seek; a dangerously minimal roller that signals Argo is ready to start ascending the ranks..."

It’s been almost twelve months – to the day – since the last FKOF Records release (Roklem & Sebalo’s brilliant FKxF EP in March 2023). As you may know, last year marked the closure of our first decade as an imprint, and we celebrated in true FatKidOnFire fashion, by having most of the year off. Not that we didn’t get anything done – there were two FKOF weddings and a bunch of other awesome activity to focus. With the new year now properly with us, we figured it was high time to get back on the wagon and get the new tunes rolling out the door. So here’s FKOFd060…

FKOFd060 is available via our bandcamp rn, from 22/03/24 onwards. It's then available at Beatport two weeks after, 05/04/24, and on general release two weeks after that, 19/04/24.

‘As ever, we’ve been testing a lot of upcoming FKOF Records material on the monthly FKOF Sessions on Subtle Radio - or the bi-monthly collab show on Radio Buena Vida with Kami-O. The tunes that have become FKOFd060 have featured across both shows for what feels like forever, alongside a whole host of other material from fellow US-based producers. The latest wave (we won’t call it new, it’s been going on for ages) of American dubstep producers are starting to feel like they’re really finding their niche and we’re stoked to bag four tunes (and a FKOF freebie) from Mikrodot, one of the wave’s rising stars. 

‘Our 60th digital EP - FKOFd060 – once again beautifully visualised by our resident artiste Lal Yetki, kicks off with ‘Girl from Twin Cities’. It’s a sumptuous, smoky roller; all warm subs and floaty atmospherics. Next up, we’ve the slightly heavier ‘Ember’ – crisp percussive pressure and the wobblier vibes that hark back to Fabriclive.37. Track three, ‘Enlightenment’, strips things back to our beats, bass and space recipe and is a firm FKOF favourite. The final EP inclusion, ‘Repressed’, continues the wobblier themes found earlier in the release with more gunfinger-inspiring vibes. It’s a fitting end to our latest American-made release on FKOF Records. Except it’s not, because we’ve also got a FKOF freebie from Mike to celebrate his debut with us. Some Coki-inspired madness. It bangs!

‘We’re 11 years into our journey as a record label, and we keep finding producers and material that continues to excite us. Our 60th digital release is a rowdy affair, and has been a labour of love between us and the artists (in ever sense) involved. We hope you enjoy it as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together!’
