With their debut album due out next year, Novella share a glimpse at what's to come with their new Murmurs EP, released on cassette on Monday 14th October via Italian Beach Babes.

Featuring four new songs recorded in one day by Jack Cooper from Mazes and Mark Jasper at SoundSavers in Homerton, the tape showcases a collection of songs being worked on by the band ahead of recording their forthcoming album. Listen to '' here:

The radiant 'Blue Swallows' and slow, bass-heavy swell of 'Follow' might be familiar to fans, have been refined over the course of many live shows, and come paired with an unfinished jam called 'Phrases', as well as a slow-paced version of last year's Shangri-La's inspired single, 'Mary's Gun'. 

The band are going into the studio at the end of the year to record their new album, and their last show of the year will be the cassette tape launch party in a few weeks' time:

Fire Records are excited to announce the worldwide signing of hotly tipped New Zealand band Opossom. The brainchild of Kody Nielson, formerly of acclaimed "trouble gum art punks" The Mint Chicks , Opossom have produced the exceptional and captivating album 'Electric Hawaii', which is due for release in August.

The first single from the album will be "Blue Meanies", a synth-led, bass heavy psych odyssey with a surreal, semi-animated video shot amid beautiful woodland scenery, featuring fantastical creatures, adventurous hikers and golden Buddhas with laser beam eyes. The b-side features Kody's slow-fi, dub remix of the track.

If you ever wondered what’d happen if two best friends who share a collective mission to not take life too seriously spent just as much time soaking up the muddy blues of Mississippi as they did the kosmisch experimentations of West Germany (the pair also play in Krautrock collective Datashock) then Pretty Lightning are your answer. Unsurprising, then, that as often as their sound is indeed full to the brim with crunch, swagger and feedback, they’re also just capable as easing off on that oft-abused accelerator and dealing in something more far hypnotic and drone-like.

The reverberating slow-burner, ‘Greyhound’, is exactly one such moment. Just like the video that comes with it, it’s the sonic equivalent of hitching a long motorcycle road you never want to end–only, as in said visuals, the landscape you’re cruising through happens to be somewhere weird, cartoonish and, true to form, psychedelic-as-hell. The band says of the single: “Greyhound is pure escapism - one fantasy of it, anyway. It’s probably our most pop-pleasing song so far too, even if that’s not the direction we’re generally heading into. If you think that sometimes it´s ok to treat yourself to a fantasy, why not take the imagination of an eternal ride and stick it in a 4 minute ‘pop-song’”
