Critical Environmental Data on monitieteinen tutkimusryhmä, joka havainnoi estetiikan, digitaalisen kulttuurin ja ympäristötuhon erilaisten muotojen vuorovaikutusta. Ryhmä tekee tutkimusta Aarhusin yliopistossa Tanskassa ja osallistuu kansainvälisiin taiteen ja designin kuratointihankkeisiin keskittyen ympäristödatan arkkitehtuureihin ja infrastruktuureihin. Ryhmä tutkii aistimisen ja estetiikan muotoja sekä datan ja ympäristömuutosten tiloja ja paikkoja. Projektia vetävät Jussi Parikka, May Ee Wong ja Paolo Patelli.

Critical Environmental Data tutkii ympäristön ja datan välistä suhdetta. Jussi Parikan johtama tutkimusryhmä Aarhusin yliopistosta on luonut kuusiosaisen Ääniopastus kaupungin luontoon -ääniteoksen, joka on koettavissa Eteläsatamassa Lyypekinlaiturin läheisyydessä, Vallisaaressa vanhan sääaseman rauniolla, Hietalahdessa, Kaisaniemen kasvitieteellisessä puutarhassa sekä Sörnäisissä Taideyliopiston Kuvataideakatemian läheisyydessä.

Podcastin muodossa toteutetut opastukset on kuunneltavissa Helsinki Biennaalin aikana 11.6.-17.9. joko omalla laitteella kuulokkeiden kanssa kyseisissä kohteissa tai Helsinki Biennaalin nettisivuilla.

Jaksot on kuunneltavissa suomeksi ja englanniksi.

Phuong-Dan is closely linked with the much loved Golden Pudel in Hamburg. As one of the club's longest serving selectors, he has made it his playground and has built up a loyal following both locally and internationally. His sounds are freaky and unusual, to say the least, and as such he and his night Gatto Musculoso are celebrated for being risky and experimental. He hasn’t made a record yet, but is a multidisciplinary artist who has made a documentary film and has written two books, one of which is about migration. 

Phuong-Dan also works as programmer and curator in the local project Music From High Wires, and has a real sense of style and noir aesthetic that easily marks him out in his own little world. This mix proves that across the course of one hour of hellish electronics, foreboding and sludgy techno, dark dub and mechanical malfunctions. Maybe try listening to it on headphones, in the dead of night, but only if you dare…
