Out of the modern musical abyss comes Jackson Scott, a 22-year-old artist living in Asheville, NC. Finding pure metaphysical euphoria within the depths of cassette recorders and guitar pedals, he enjoys the simple things in life such as playing music with friends and falling into existential voids. After touring extensively for his debut album Melbourne in 2013, Jackson returned home to record an album that he could listen to in absolutely any negative or positive state of mind.

His second album Sunshine Redux is a translation of this paradoxical psyche, a kaleidoscope of sounds ranging from 60’s flower power to 90’s hip-hop production techniques. Veering from nihilistic punk rock explosions to gentle sonic nightmares, it is his most cohesive musical undertaking yet.

Fall Seattle is a four-piece rock band formed in 2012 in Reston, Virginia, USA.

After spending over two years recording at friends' houses and family basements, the band is finally releasing their self-titled debut album. Expressing a love for krautrock bands such as Can, Faust, and Kraftwerk, as well as pop, post-hardcore, post-punk and noise acts, ‘Fall Seattle’ is a kaleidoscope of influences and tries on an array of genres for size.

From the one-two snap of snare-in-to-wash of shoegaze-y melody that kicks off ‘Wanda Johnson’, to the dark jangle of the Cure-esque ‘Nothing You Can Hold On To’, via the Deerhunter meets Roy Orbison, aching balladry of ‘Boyhood’, Fall Seattle drink in some high watermarks of contemporary guitar music.

There’s a youthful longing underpinning much of this debut album, with the instrumentation sometimes smashing up against, but more often complementing, Orsy Campos’ delicate, melodic vocal lines. The guitar playing recalls the twists and turns of modern jangle-heroes Real Estate, albeit processed via some kind of space-rock filter, not content with the suburban backyards of America, looking upwards and outwards in to the void for sonic resolution.

We're delighted to be teaming up with long-time AIH pal Gorgeous Bully as well as relative newcomers Something Anorak, for a four track split 7" due for release 27th May.

The two bands met whilst both living and playing in Cornwall in early 2011 and bonded over a shared love of boisterous lo-fi music. In the five years since, Something Anorak, consisting of cousins James and Chris Barrett, moved to Bristol; released an album on Howling Owl and split time writing music between working as a plumber and a postman. Meanwhile, Gorgeous Bully's Thomas Crang moved to Manchester and with no such restrictions on his time, has spent 5 years of unemployment ascending the stairs of bedroom-pop stardom whilst sharing a steady stream of songs that are "ugly and bummed and uncomfortable in all the right ways.

The split features two tracks from each band and is set to be released as a cherry red 7" record on May 27th.

Absent Forever is the newest album from London-based producer Plastic Flowers - his third full-length LP and the second for The Native Sound after Heavenly. Plastic Flowers formed vaguely around 2011 in Thessaloniki, Greece and play a noisy version of Dream Pop filed under Shoegaze, Ambient and Indie. Much like his previous releases on labels such as Crash Symbols, Inner Ear Records or Bad Panda, this new album artfully slips intelligence and experimentation into a dying art form.

Recordings were completed in less than three months in 2017 and the album comprises of ten tracks that have been around George’s hard drive in demo form since early 2013. For this record Plastic Flowers recorded himself onto tape in different DIY spaces around London, including a friend’s old house in Hampstead and his small home studio. While dealing with massive academic workload and stress for his PhD, he managed to completely reshape Plastic Flowers’ sound with a new record that captures the analog aesthetics and the warm sound of the tape. As part of the creative process, he collaborated with a string quartet and his ex bandmate Angelos who assisted in the recordings.

Absent Forever finds Plastic Flowers hopeful and heavy, a new direction for those familiar with his music. It still possess the pensive and melancholy undertones taken of Heavenly, but they take different forms and themes. There are different ways to find growth and constructiveness through the times and situations that are labelled as negative, but through this album Samaras explores themes of personal flaws and downfalls that changed his life and helped him complete Absent Forever.

Absent Forever is out November 10th on vinyl and digitally via The Native Sound.
