part one of a series in which i'm recreating/covering Nobuo Uematsu's masterpiece "Dancing Mad," from 1994's SNES classic Final Fantasy VI. 

For this project I wanted to recreate the song in its entirely entirely on the Electron Digitakt II, as I have scarcely used its song mode or done much in the way of sound synthesis, note and MIDI programming, etc. The drum samples are mostly factory sounds on DT2, with the synths all being made from scratch out of single-cycle waveforms; the only exception being the "choir" voice in sections two and four, which was made from scratch on Arturia Microfreak. All the sequencing was done note-by-note on Digitakt by studying the score. 

Now that I have the groundwork completed, I plan do to further mixing, editing, and sound design to make it more of a cover than just a simple recreation.

recorded october 2019 with some elements dating back as far as march/april. some samples and songs were previously used on last EP For What a Lie Lacks in Love... and have been reworked here. all songs come from a real, tube-related place. all songs are true. my father is still stuck there, as are many other fathers. this album is for them.
