Ecko, Latin Grammy-winning producer in the urban genre, discovered these two talented composers and referred them to artist manager Raúl López when they were still teenagers. In 2010, they adopt the stage name "Favela", as the slums in Latin America are commonly called, name suggested by their friend and admirer Danny Fornaris. This term describes Gaby and Giovy’s roots, which they want to always remember as the neighborhood where they learned the value of hard work and the love of music.

In 2010, Favela participated in a singing competition for Telemundo Puerto Rico called "Yo Canto." They managed to capture the favor of the Puerto Rican public who crammed the TV recording studio to support them and soon made them the participant with the largest number of followers. In 2012, Favela launched the grass roots campaign "Blessedly condemned to success" where fans sponsored the recording of several tracks, a media tour and various fan activities that ended in a concert at the Aguada Convention Center. Since then, fans have followed and become part of each step in the development of Favela's career. This campaign with the message "He who does what he loves is blessedly condemned to success" caught the attention of songwriter, producer and singer of the duo "Tercer Cielo", Juan Carlos Rodríguez, Latin Grammy nominee 2011 and 2014.  As a result he joins the project as the music producer of the unreleased 10 tracks album that will launch this November 11th in Puerto Rico. Favela has achieved in "Volver a empezar" a musical production of hits that will definitely occupy the top positions in Puerto Rican radio.
