The Plot Thickens

..Favored Enemy.. started out as a project between high school friends and long time bandmates (..6 Foot Statues, Fallout Incision, One Weeks Notice..) vocalist/guitarist Hans Eckstein (also of ..Fallstaff Hero/Action Bros..) and guitarist Jay Eigenmann-Rogoff in 2005. After jamming for a few months and writing a number of songs, the two recruited another high school buddy and long time band mate Ali Alejandro (..Mojofly/Delara, Fallout Incision, One Weeks Notice..) to play drums, but due to the trios' many commitments, not much progress was made over the next few years, most importantly in the way of completing the full band line up and performing gigs. .. .. .. After a number of home recordings, name changes and various attempts at recruiting more band members, things lined up for the band in late 2007. On a whim, David Baquiran (..Whatevuritakes..) jammed with the band on the bass (never having played the bass in his life) and soon after drummer Ryan Chase (..Tijuana Bullfight..) returned to the Philippines after a number of years in the US and one jam session brought it all together, allowing Baquiran to move to his natural instrument, guitar, and Alejandro to make the switch to bass, a position long since desired as it would allow him both more mobility and freedom to sing. Once everything was in place, the band moved quickly, writing a new song in December of 2007 (Circles) and playing their first gig in January 2008. Since then the boys have been gigging across the metro, bringing their music to whoever will listen. .. .. .. Eclectic, forceful, and energetic, ..Favored Enemy.. is currently finding their niche in the local music scene, fine tuning their sound and pushing their creativity to new limits in an effort to make the best music they can. Their ambient, mercurial three guitar assault makes up the core of their sound; at times mellow, others incredibly aggressive - this in turn is driven by a solid rhythm section composed of Chases' exacting and relentless drumming and Alejandro's musical sense (amplified by his skills as a drummer) and booming bass lines. This is the landscape with which Eckstein's floating vocals paint a picture, speaking of life with a voice that is both introspective and yet incredibly empathic. .. .. ..
