'Enclosure' is a mirror of the glacial movement with which it has moved this year, a year where we have been static spectators of 
beauty and chaos, of the seasons that change in front of us, of life and death. As the titles of the pieces indicate, they are six interiors that breathe, five auditory frames that echo in a space that, although limited, is open and expansive.

El músico tijuanense explora y experimenta con su arsenal de grabadoras, decks y cintas para crear ambientes analógicos y drones que colisionan en cámara lenta con sintetizadores, cajas de ritmo y los field recordings de la vida diaria. Creando mundos magnéticos de emociones y estados de ánimo que se repiten y se expanden con cada escucha Simonel se abre camino entre la baja y la alta fidelidad.

Simone is Obed Márquez. The Tijuana-born musician explores and experiments with his arsenal of tape decks to create analog atmospheres and drones that collide in slow motion with synths, drum machines and day-to-day field recordings. He creates magnetic worlds full of emotion and mood that repeat and expand with every listen while Simonel walks the breach between high and low fidelity.

To celebrate the reissue earlier this year of Seefeel’s 1994 - 96 music for Warp and Rephlex, we invited the producer KMRU to make an immersive hour long mix of tracks from the records.

Joseph Kamaru, aka KMRU, is a sound artist and experimental ambient musician, raised in Nairobi, Kenya, and currently based in Berlin where he is a Master’s student in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts at the Universität der Künste. His works deal with discourses of field recording, improvisation, noise, ambient, machine learning, radio art and expansive hypnotic drones. He has earned international acclaim from his performances in far-flung locales as well as his ambient recordings, including the 2020 album Peel released on Editions Mego.

Editions Mego mix - tracks chosen by Mego artists and mixed by Nik Colk Void 

"On the train up to Sheffield to play at Cafe DINA, thinking of the mix, I messaged Peter Rehberg (aka Pita)’s long term partner, Isabelle. Isabelle is overseeing the final scheduled releases Peter had pencilled in for Editions Mego, a list discovered on his desk after he passed away in July 2021. I asked her what her favourite Mego track is, and finding it hard to just pick one, she eventually chose Fennesz’s ‘Nebenraum’ from Hotel Paral.lel. 

And so it continued… I went on to ask other artists who have released on Mego the same question. When Peter left too early, he left a hole too big for anyone else to fill, but at least we have his legacy through the Mego catalogue. The releases will stop - mine being one of the last - but thankfully the mass of music he championed will keep existing and coax brave ambition which will continue to break the mould."

Eli Keszler remixes "Statuario" - the album's opening track - and transforms it into an atmospheric setting that seems to have sprung from a magical vaudeville act.

Pole’s Stefan Betke journeys through dub-techno, ambient and an array of spiritual music styles on his wide-ranging Bleep mix. Those aforementioned genres have always been a clear influence on Pole’s deep, weighty electronic compositions, and as such it’s no surprise to find several Pole originals among the track listing here - indeed, Betke sets the tone by beginning with Pole’s grainy ambient-techno track ‘Modul’. With these Pole productions anchoring the blends we are then free to journey off into passages of mind-expanding spirituality - for instance in the mid-section, which features tracks from Lou Reed/John Cale and Sun Ra, or the contemplative roots reggae tunes which are included in the mix’s home straight.
