Wild Oats proudly presents a new 7 inch from Kyle Hall entitled ‘Eutrophia Sevan’. This project is an ode to the earth and its plant based life forms that give us sustenance, nurturing, and knowledge through both its cultivation, observation, and consumption.

Additional Notes & Thoughts:

It is my understanding that all energetic material in which we interact with serves as a software of a kind that is loaded into our systems via our five senses and influence the manner in which we behave and process our realities.

Plants have many ways of interacting with our senses. One form of this sensory interaction with plants is the ingestion of them for the purpose of intoxication. In this form the plant sends information to our neural networks which we interpret as sensation of a shift in our state of mind, body, and spirit. When a plant of this type is in the hands of a creative mind, these shifts in ones perspective can allow for the possibility of the integration of new concepts and ideas that can provide insight in an array of aspects of its consumers life experience. From this unification one now begins to see the connection between things that were once to them seemingly unrelated. These teachings then become motifs that then can be applied to whatever the creative individuals mode of expression is.

Of course we also eat certain plants to provide sustenance, nourishment and satiation. The Sweet Potato root is one of these plants that provide this for us. Having a feeling of being full, nourished, and satisfied gives a stronger capacity to be grounded. Being grounded allows for us to focus and align ourselves with what we must do in order to attract what we personally need in our lives.

Eating a plants fruit, taking its seed and caring for it till it grows into plant itself is a symbolism of the overall connection between all life and all processes that occur with in it. This indicates that plants contain a level of supreme intelligence that can only be tapped into by our communion and honoring of them.

Following releases on Mike Simonetti's 2MR, Sonar Kollektiv and Centre Source Records, @jad-lee has been steadily making his presence felt within the underground community focusing on soulful house. His latest work touches on multiples aspects of his sound with motifs of balearic rhythms and retro melodies. The new material is definitely right at home on Toy Tonics.

Spooky even named the tune in his Fact Mag top ten 'most prized dubplates list! We linked Taiko up with Mancunian wordsmith @Skittles (currently smashing it with the @levelzmcr crew), and 'Don't Be Stoopid' is the anthemic result. FKOF fam and producer extraordinaire @District adds an industrial grime-esque flavour to his remix for a killer one-two punch. The two producers collaborate, for the first time ever, on the B-side, entitled ‘Yōkai’. It’s a tune that demonstrates why we signed both musicians – incredible atmospheres, depth and weight.

Sam Böök, better known in the world of forward-thinking sound system music as the elusive Finnish producer Mikael, has built a highly-respected catalog of tunes on Innamind Recordings.  We are proud that he has chosen ZamZam for his first venture on a different label.  

"Nuthin’ A Come" is a massive one drop tune, built with classic dub principles in mind, and contemporary sound system dynamics fully dialed. A huge bassline both rubbery and subby anchors the track, along with sparse drums, hard skanks and relentless spring reverb slaps deployed as percussive elements.  Washes of white noise and a drop into a wide open chasm calls in a double-time kick, taking the tune into steppers territory until a sublime, cinematic outro.  

"Corner Dub” is a bruising yet heady vehicle built from a reggae chassis, scraped up dubstep panels, dusted Jamaican vocal samples, and a thick patina of delay and plaintive melodica.  This one drives to destinations beyond the horizon, taking in the shimmering scenery on the way. 

Both tunes are highly focused, deeply transporting on headphones, and make for carthatic movements in the dance. Enjoy.

Featured here is the very rare 12" version - which has an added flute - and the better known Anambra album version as played by David Mancuso, Daniele Baldelli and Bobby Viteritti. One of our alltime favorites.
