This is a cover of the song "Frustration", written by Soft Cell. The original song starts the 1981 released album, "Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret", which influenced waves of music to follow.

While the original song is comprised of synths, drum machine, vocals and a saxophone, this take has more of a bite with gritty bass guitar, live drums, piano, vocals and a trumpet.

The featured horn solo was done in one take by trumpet master, Hannah Ureste of the band, Red Light District.

All other sounds, instruments, vocals and production by Shok.

"I got to see the band, Editors, early in their career, perform for approximately 100 people at a venue in Hollywood called Cinespace in 2006. 

I always found vocalist, Tom Smith, to be reminiscent of Brendan Perry (Dead Can Dance) and thought it would be interesting to one day hear his voice with that style of music (big drums and strings).  

That one day came in a single afternoon when I rediscovered I had a multitrack of my favorite Editors song, "Munich", from 2005 on Kitchenware Records. I took the vocals and the refrain guitar and created a cinematic, tribal anthem with my drums and strings.  Some of the drums were initially recorded for a soundtrack I composed so they already had a large space in mind which wound up complimenting the vocals.

I hope you enjoy this musical journey and that the band does too."

The album was borne from the notion of creating a quick EP but quickly replace when an old post had been discovered with the Machines.Tell.Stories title.

Set for a 2017 18th July release which never happened.... this body of work will soon see the light of day or perhaps the depths and darkness of night.

Some songs remain in demo form due to a loss of data due to a computer stroke.
Perhaps the magic is in this reality.

The album has sat untouched for the good part of a few years with the exception of the song, "Converter", where vocals were added by a group of friends over a period of time.
