Got into a weird headspace walking home tonight.   Didn't have a folky one in me.  Saw 8 rats scurrying about.   I got angry.  Dark.  This came out.

Unlike most of my tracks on here, this one WAS NOT recorded on my Micro BR!  It's an audio snippet from a phone video I took of myself writing and playing some tunes in a friends sunroom over the summer.

Goes without saying the audio quality is quite poor... not to mention the guitar playing!  The riff was real fiddly and I had been up all night.  :)

There was an old woman, and she lived at number 9,
My friend and I would check in on her to see if she was fine,
But then she tried to give us apples and we both began to cry,
Now my mother won't allow us any friends.

What was so upsetting bout the fruit the lady gave,

Was it the right season and tell me were the apples fresh
This is a weird story and I must know all of the rest.

I can't remember everything because I'd just turned four,
And my mother prays to jesus everytime I ask her more,
It's like the whole thing never happened its just llke it was befor,
only mother says we can't have any friends.

Your mother sounds real strange and this whole story is bizarre,

And my guess is this whole thing is bigger than you do pretend.

Well your persistance has paid off, I just had a very troubling thought,
There was no old woman at number 9,

Misery

My late grandfather on my fathers side
Had a very peculiar coffee mug,
In the bolest of letters, written on the side of it,
YOUTH IS WASTED ON THE YOUNG.

I'm really not sure why all of a sudden,
This phrase and the mug popped into my head,
It might've been something else I had only just recently said.

the next couple weeks i got so obsessed,
my grandma indulged me, and soon i was dressed,
with a pink shirt and white khahkis,
im really still so damn impressed.

Song idea I had to cut a little short because the SD card in my Micro BR started going on the fritz.  Was happy to just recover what I did!
