Coffintexts makes it a perfect hat-trick with her third release for Clasico – a submarine-deep pair of tracks from our regular Miami correspondent.

A sequel of sorts to last autumn’s ‘Todo Mi Cuerpo’ / ’88 ST’, these new tracks dial down the tempo but turn up the atmosphere. “It’s deeper, and dreamier than the last two tracks I released on Clasico,” she says. “Felt right to follow up with something along those lines.”

A-side ‘Mas Fina’ steps out with dubbed-out vocals, sonar bleeps and stuttering snares - club music for the bottom of the ocean, or at least for that moment in the night when everything feels a bit detached from gravity. It’s one of those tracks that feels simple on the surface, but reveals extra detail and submerged layers with every play.

B-side ‘Vamos Al Club’ ups the pressure: it’s Coffintexts in pumper mode again, with pitch-shifted hats, cheeky woodblocks and a wriggling bassline made for fogged-out rooms. Vocals come from fellow Miami resident Le Poodle. “I made the beat first, then reached out to Natalie to see if she had any vocals lying around. I chopped up some of the recordings she sent, and boom – it sat perfectly on the beat. Love her voice.”

The pair first crossed paths through mutual friends Paperwater back in 2017. At the time, Alex and some other local artists would pull all-nighters in Airbnbs and studios around Miami for makeshift writing and beat sessions – and you can hear that ease and chemistry woven into these tracks.

As for where these tracks belong? “Like 4-5am in a medium fogged out room – could be a club, a house party, even a Getty" (that's a get-together for the uninitiated). "Everything washed in a soft red light. Everyone’s still dancing, it’s that in-between moment where the night’s turning into morning.”

RUTA unveils its second Various Artists compilation, Erre, a release rooted in club music experimentation and aligned with the label’s commitment to a transnational creative ethos. With contributors hailing from Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Germany, the U.S., China, U.K., and France, the compilation reads as a dispatch from a network of producers who share an intuitive understanding of rhythm-forward, bass-weighted dance music, no matter where they call home.

The tracklist offers a dynamic, shapeshifting palette: vocal-driven club tracks collide with broken rhythms, angular leftfield techno mutations, dembow-oriented tools, and even UK garage hybrids. No single genre binds it all together, only a sonic attitude marked by intensity, boldness, and a diasporic rhythmic fluency.

Erre is more than a showcase of tracks, it signals a maturation moment for RUTA, a label of Colombian origin operating from Germany, as it shapes its position within a more global, post-local club continuum. By drawing together both long-time collaborators and newer voices connected by a shared musical language, Erre builds not just a compilation, but an evolving platform for shared expression.

Baltimore-born, Brooklyn-based, BIG J herself -- JIALING (@pbnstrawberryjam) joins forces with Sorry Records for a floorshaking 4-track exploration of everything from big room latin hard house to queer vocal slammers, and plenty of breaks and bass in between.

I met Jialing on New Years Eve Eve 2021 at Bossa here in Brooklyn. It was like 2am on a Thursday night, mid-way through "Breaks in America" - our first ever dedicated breaks night with our friend SWAP MEET! and Kindergarten Records/Sorry favorite Drummy b2b myself. I've got a distinct memory of Jialing introducing herself and saying "I came because you said breaks! I love breaks!" I remember being struck by her unpretentious enthusiasm (especially considering she was still based in Baltimore back then and was routinely making the trek to NYC for local club nights like ours).

Since that night, JIALING's been a wonderfully ever present figure on the NYC dancefloor and in our lives. Named one of “The Top 25 Producers Who Defined the Year 2024” by Mixmag, she's done incredible work via self-releases in addition to stellar recent releases on Local Action's Clasico Records (FREAKY HORNS, WHISTLE TIP with Farsight, and this WTCHCRFT + Sister Zo featuring remix record), Gallegos' Room Service imprint, and the new gen Baltimore club label WOE she runs alongside Kade Young. She’s remixed folks like Seimei (on Sorry!), Honey B, and nextdimensional — as well as played clubs like Nowadays, Marble Bar, Public Records, Good Room, Paragon, Dalston Superstore, Venue M.O.T., Mansions, and beyond.

J literally lives two blocks down the street from me and I'm so happy to finally do a proper Sorry Records release with her here. WUPS! is the sound of JIALING at her most immediate, playing with some major source material from the last forty odd years of dance music history; touching on sounds from the Paradise Garage to the Loft (“Don’t Go Lose It Baby”) Frankie Knuckles at The Warehouse (“Let No Man Put Asunder”), and Junior Vasquez’s Arena at the Palladium (“Cunty”).

Another certified Sorry Records Big Room Trojan Horse release, WUPS! finds JIALING at the height of her power and has already been tearing up dancefloors like The Carry Nation & WRECKED’s massive Get Wrecked & Carry Pride party this June.

WUPS! also features original artwork by our friend SWAP MEET! and masters by Danny Goliger (3024, Magic City, Scuffed Recordings).
