If you know me in person, you probably know me as someone who is generally pretty quiet and calm about most things. For this next chapter of the Feathervane project, I’ve written some music that I think reflects that perception, inspired by a time in which I found it tough to keep it up, to the point where I turned to new creative solutions to help slow myself down.

About a year ago, I found myself starting to live between several different homes. From the last days of my West Campus apartment lease to my Airbnb in LA; from my childhood bedroom in Houston to my family’s places in Medellín; from my girlfriend’s house to the spots I would shelter myself in around Austin to focus on music. I was more or less without a permanent location to call my own from August 2024 to August 2025. It was beautifully liberating and simultaneously stressful. I eventually landed a full time job and a new apartment in Austin that would signify my state of being for the foreseeable future. But those 12 months felt like a real first taste of proper adulthood as I was enjoying my own ambition, exploring new places, and falling in love, but also cherishing and missing a life I used to live, without actual responsibilities. NEW YOUTH.

Through all of it, I found that, in these moments of constant movement, I really needed to sit still sometimes, and just stop my mind from racing. Ambient music turned out to be a way through. Atmospheres to calm me down. Sounds as light as feather. Experiences focused on feeling. These are five songs that encapsulate all the emotions I felt, in ways that felt like therapy. Together, they make up my longest, most personal body of work to date. It’s yours and mine. It’s gentle fireworks, and the haze of their afterglow. Breathe it all in.
