"Professional leisure" is the first single of Narval's debut EP 'Contradictions' out this summer. This remix, produced by @shimon-earthly was made available to a handful of renowned artists and DJs, and some of them, including Mira (Kater Blau), already made it their weapon of choice this winter.

You can buy one of the 200 NFTs to get your hands on this track and its original now, and 1 of the 200 only records which will be released in summer 2022 with remixes by Shimon, Exz and Lopal. The artwork is by Edi Dubien, the French upcoming artist who already has sold one of his drawings to Centre Pompidou, the first collection of modern and contemporary art in Europe.

‘Like many independent artists, I work a full-time job on top of producing and releasing music. This creates a significant tension between making music for fun and disconnecting from work on one side, and trying to do it as "professionally" as possible and reaching a significant audience on the other side. This is definitely causing some discomfort: stress, impostor syndrome... I know I am not the only artist feeling that way, and it is a bit of a taboo. I don't really talk about it so much either, so I made this slightly glitchy, slightly disturbed track, with some nonsense vocals and this title "Professional Leisure".’ - Narval

The Magic Movement marks its twenty fifth release this April with Coss & Luca Musto’s ‘Remind Me Tomorrow’ EP, comprised of three originals from the Berlin-based pair and a remix from label boss Noema.

Coss has been a mainstay at Berlin’s Kater Blau club for some time now and just recently delivered an EP on the club’s in-house imprint Kiosk ID as well as an EP for his own metanoia. Italian rooted but Germany-based Luca Musto returns to the Magic Movement here following his 2018 ‘Parabel’ EP and has since gone on to release further material with Cologne’s Feines Tier and Laut & Luise in recent years.

Here joining forces with the ‘Remind Me Tomorrow’ EP the two artist’s deliver more of their distinctive tripped- out, dropped tempo club sound. ‘Broken Promises’ leads the way via dreamy dubbed out textures, gnarly bass tones, twinkling chimes, and airy arpeggios atop a bumpy drum groove. Title-cut ‘Remind Me Tomorrow’ follows and brings modulating resonant synth lines into the forefront alongside elongated subs, cinematic pads, and circling sequences while Luca also stirs in his own rap/spoken word hip house style vocals.

The third original ‘Concept Zero’ follows next and lays down psychedelic guitars, choppy stabs, murky bass swells and dynamic delays before Noema rounds out the release with his take on ‘Remind Me Tomorrow’, flipping the switch to raw, crunchy drums and spoken word vocal chants amongst the original’s chuggy arps and dreamy melodic elements.

Freie Sicht feat. Acud stands out with a catchy picked bass guitar, accompanied by a deep menacing pad. A punchy snare, that shakes the listener to the core, pushes the track into a disco/new wave style. This feeling intensifies as Lasse Winkler’s, aka Acud, lyrics start in the first break. The Berlin-based electronic musician, vocalist and label head of ’Keller’ is known for his musical aliases Acud, Beatmörtelz and Lasse Winkler. He is wailing, ‚Do you see me, don’t you see me, I see you, I don’t see you‘ throughout the track. On the face of it, a text of minimalistic simplicity, even naivety, but if you loo k at it more closely, they are words that are hard to grasp in their ambiguity and difficult to interpret. The well-known phrases become unfamiliar as he continually shifts the meaning by switching intonations. On the musical side the ease of a simple arpeggiator sequence is connected to sophisticatedly reverberated palm-mute guitar picks that form a vivid articulation of modern new wave. Tal Fussman’s interpretation of Freie Sicht is a hypnotic break beat banger based on Acud’s vocal and an arpeggiator line while the evolving arrangement peaks in an ecstatic climax. Shubostar delivers a remix with mighty drums and a powerful bassline while integrating vocals, pad sounds and guitars from the original into her signature sound. Both remixes come with dancefloor aspirations without losing the obscure vibe of the original and rounding up the third single EP ahead of Oberst & Buchner’s album as a whole.
