Felicity Cripps Band's latest single, "Inside a Keyhole", due March 20, is an ode to the collective conscience. Driving, psychedelic and heartful, the song was born out of a need for community and meaningful connection in a
post-lockdown world that was starved of both. ‘Inside A Keyhole’ is an antidote to isolation and an anthemic reminder of our oneness with the universe.

Inside a Keyhole

Felicity Cripps Band debut LP was recorded in the old school house in Fryerstown, on Dja Dja Wurrung country in Central Victoria. The tracks were initially intended as demo recordings for an album, but it soon became evident that the sound and performance of the live band captured so beautifully by engineer Damien Charles, were more than just demos. "We fell in love with the sound of the room and the energy that was created by recording everything as a live band, that we decided to work with the original takes" - Felicity Cripps, FCB. 

Along with song-writer and front woman, Felicity Cripps, the FCB features Tim Heath (the Basics) on guitar, Tom Norton (Citizen Sex) on drums and Alex Scott Douglas (Shores) on vocals and saxophone. The combination of performers has created a dynamic blend of rock and folk that is rhythmic and unique resulting in an audience member commenting the sound was like "Joan Baez fronting the Pixies".

01 Sisters Of Mercy

Werewolf is a dreamy, strangely melancholic pop song that gently sinks into your psyche and lingers for a long time. The leisurely oh-lalalas hang about like jasmine blossoms on a Summer's night. Cripps' evocatic story-telling takes you on a journey, reminiscing on past, unattainable lovers and the gradual dissipation of youthful innocence. There's a sweetness that feels lost, but also a sense of elation in letting go and moving on. 

The track was recorded and produced by Nick Huggins (Dirty Three, Jess Rebeiro, Jen Cloher) and features the dulcet tones of Bones Sloane on bv’s (Courtney Barnett).

Werewolf

A propelling, minimalist rock number, St. Christopher tells the story of a missing child, and the immediate gathering of community, with one objective. The song is almost a prayer and a reflection on those terrible hours, waiting to find a lost child. Momentum builds throughout a wayward instrumental, into a final verse, where the Gods finally deliver.

'Volcano' is a homage to the volcanologists Katia and Maurice Krafft, who died in a pyroclastic flow on Mount Unzen, Nagasaki, Japan, on 3 June 1991.
